Subject: Hi Lisa! I appreciate advice from a professional. I just wanted to mention that a few weeks ago before I started regularly posting, I checked out your trip pictures with your handsome family - what a great idea that was! My family lives near Valley Forge, so we are very familiar with Gettysburg and the Philly area. I also worked in Washington DC in the mid-70s. And my best friend lived in Long Island for years, in Port Jefferson.// I have to say the selling part is an issue. As of this weekend we HAD planned to move and downsize. But, we decided with the mortgage already paid off and the market not the best it would be a bad move. We aren't thrilled with how this area has changed with very noisy neighbors and the road has gotten very busy and noisy. Now we ARE looking at a sunroom as something to invest in and help sell the house when we do move down the road, and something to enjoy in the meantime. It definitely would be much smaller than your friend's though. Thank you so much for the information!! ElaineJ/eom

Subject: You are welcome. Port Jeff is really pretty. I love that resteraunt The Danford there. Thanks about the pics! In this market if I wasn't thrilled with the turn an area was talking I would just sell downsize and go somewhere you really like. That's just me!~ LISA K

Subject: That was what we were originally thinking. But our house is a large part of our nest egg and my husband is still tied to NYC and his job, though with downsizing at his company, who knows what that will lead to. There are so many variables to consider, which is why this is such a big decision. I do so appreciate your advice! I really only went to my friend's house so I don't know too much about the area. Now she lives in Maryland and we rarely see each other. :( We live in Orange County, NY, near Washingtonville and Monroe. We sold my MIL's house relatively quickly last year for the market. It was a small house in a very good neighborhood with a flat yard. But dated inside. However, we had a buyer right off, but they never got the mortgage, then after they had to drop out, we had a buyer that same week. Their dad helped them buy the house - it was a mother daughter. My parents actually rented from my MIL, so we were one big happy (well most of the time) family, lol ElaineJ/eom
