Subject: In all the sites I've seen related to this topic, every person who excused her actions by saying that it was just a joke HAPPENED to be American. Just saying.

I just think if Ellen had insulted Americans somehow, many Americans would not have taken it simply as a joke. this, of course, is JUST MY OPINION!
Subject: Maybe we have a sense of humor? lol. You didn't answer my question. Believe me, being from a small town in Georgia, I've heard plenty of jokes 'questioning' the intelligence of Southerners. She's a comedian!!

Subject: I wouldn't have been offended because I'm not American. The only reason I felt offended was because she asked if the girl was Canadian. How could I take offense to it if she had asked if the girl was from a certain state? It was her questioning the girl's alleged Canadian descent that offended me.

Yes she is a comedienne, but I believe being in such a public eye gives you the responsibility to be neutral and politically correct when speaking publicly. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but knowing she has many, many Canadian fans, I just feel it was insensitive. It is my love of Ellen and her action that surprises me to the point of voicing my reaction. That's all.
Subject: But would you have found it funny? Do you think people from those states should have been offended? I agree with the poster above, when it comes to comedy, everyone has been there, done that on being made fun of by some comedian.
