My birdbath has a steady stream of visitors. You can sit for ages by the kitchen window and watch them all come and go. Thought I'd post a couple of pics. The first one is a robin with another little bird on the edge waiting his turn. The second one is a Baltimore Oriole.

Nice!  I love Baltimore Orioles. I can't think of any other wild bird with Orange color. We watched one build a nest one year.  They build a sort of sack real high up, about 100 feet in our case. Look way way up.

Thanks

  • Yes their nests are really something. In the spring I always cut up some string and leave it on the lawn. The orioles take it all right away to build their nests - Pronoun

Nice pictures, Pronoun.  I love watching the birds at our feeder.  I recently bought a new one that's supposed to be squirrel-proof.  Sometimes I see a Baltimore oriole at my neighbor's feeder and a pair of goldfinches visits ours every spring.

  • We have a couple of squirrels at the bird feeder every morning. I don't mind. There are also chipmunks who like the seeds on the ground. We call one chipmunk Stubby because he only has a little stub for a tail. - Pronoun
  • We have one squirrel at our feeder as well, I just love that little guy! We also have a pilated woodpecker for the first time this year...what a wonderful sight. /// Bd

Pronoun, what a lovely spot!  I love shade and ferns and rocks.  We have two bird baths that birds of all sorts empty twice a day in hot weather.  I love watching them raise their babies and bringing them to the water.  Also, cats come to drink there and, if they need water, I am glad to provide for them, too.  Oddly, there doesn't seem to be any danger to the birds from the cats!

  • Thanks, it is a pretty spot. I just planted the ferns this year (this is a newer home, we've only been here a year and half). Hopefully they will start to get bigger and spread for next year - Pronoun

That's a lovely scene.  Mr. Ingy put out a bird feeder, fairly good size, and I swear the birds empty it every other day.  We saw a bird the other day perched near the feeder, can't remember what kind it was but it's supposed to be a tiny bird.  But this one was so fat it could barely fly straight.  Mr. Ingy said, ''Another satisfied customer!''

  • Lol at the fat bird. We have a big feeder near the bird bath and birds are in it constantly - Pronoun

I would hardly get anything done because I would be watching for the birds all day.  That's lovely.  Thanks for posting the pictures.

  • Yes it can be very distracting at times. I start to clean the kitchen and end up sitting by the window, lol - Pronoun
