Former Bush spokesman Tony Snow dies Former White House press secretary Tony Snow has died at the age of 53 after a second battle with cancer. "The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father," President Bush said in a statement. "And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character."

Dr DeBakey died too. A great heart surgeon. I had a distant cousin who worked with him and he was a pediatric heart surgeon.

I am a flaming liberal but I always really liked Tony Snow. I was so saddened when I heard about his death this morning. The guy had such a great sense of humor. Evident in his often verbal duels with Helen Thomas. I thought he was truly a very likeable guy. A breath of fresh air after Scott McClellan. What a tragic loss to have your life cut short at age 53.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but here goes.  I feel very sorry for Mr. Snow's life cut short by cancer and for his family, too.  We all grieve for those gone too soon.

I  watced Tony Snow defend a policy that surely he really did not believe in 100% , although, he may have been that small % that still thought that going into Iraq was the right thing to do.

No way am I saying that Mr. Snow losing his life was justice for his defense of Bush & Co.  He was doing a job.   The job, however, was defending a war that has now taken the lives of around 4,600 other young men.  Most much younger than the 53 years of Mr. Snow's life.

  • Not a flame, but that job was a small and final part of Snow's resume. At any rate it was tacky to mix your politics with your condolences. I'm against the war and and Shrub but this guy's death is not a political event. You did exactly what the right wingers do, they just wrap themselves in the flag when they do it. From either side, it's tasteless.
  • In my opinion it's tackier to be anonymous ''Decorum.'' Her response doesn't cancel out her regrets for a life cut short or her compassion for his family. TDQ
  • As a regular poster in here I think it is better for me not to post this under my regular name. I feel her remarks were inappropriate insensitive and uncalled for in the very same breath as the so called condolences. Thats my opinion.
  • Anon. You're entitled to your opinion. What I wrote was my opinion. and........(thanks TDQ ).........eom ..............Kate

I heard about Tony Snow this morning but not about Dr. DeBakey.  Condolences to both their families.
