Sunset off the deck.                     'Come on', the wave's not going to come this high'.  HA!

                                                  It was a soaker!

I lost my first post.  somewhere???..hope it doesn't show up and duplicate!!!!

I'm back!  I left on oct. 19th and arrived home on the 28th.  The morning I left, it was cold, we scraped ice off the windshield - 6 a.m. EST.  By 2 p.m. PST, I was in San Clemente, sitting outside on the deck enjoying a margarita with my dear friends.  It was warm and sunny the whole week I was there...thoroughly enjoyed the weather.  We didn't do much sightseeing as I'd been there, done that, didn't shop much but did we talk...and talk...and talk!!!!  I was able to visit with friends in Malibu- we were neighbours one year and also my nephew came to the house for a visit.  The last time I saw him  and my Malibu friends was in 1984.  Dan is now a man with 4 sons.   My Canadian friends (Malibu)haven't changed, still as charming and funny as ever.  When we saw each other, it was like we'd seen each other yesterday and were just continuing our conversation.  Neat.  The part of Malibu we lived in, many houses burned in the Topanga fires in the 80's but they stayed behind and saved their home and the home they were house sitting!  Tough? or crazy Canucks lol!  We toured the 'old neighbourhood.  We sold our house in 1977 for $65 making a nice profit, now they are selling for @ $500,000.  Who'da thunk!  The area was the Irvine Ranch..the orange groves, fields and open space are gone..it's now a concrete jungle.  Progress...?  Kinda sad, it was so pretty.   I had some good Mexican food, not Taco Bell lol!  Walked on the beach, as you can see, got wet, lol,  watched the surfers, ate out a lot!!  No one felt like cooking!    I had a great visit but towards the end of my visit, I began to miss my family and was excited to come home.

And now that I'm home...I'm sick..   On the plane from Denver to Ottawa, the people in front of me had their a/c cranked up pointed at me and promptly fell asleep.  I darn near froze all the way home as I had packed my jacket to avoid carrying it.  I should have asked the flight attendant to adjust it...20/20 hindsight.  So by morning I had a sore throat, drove home Wednesday feeling crappy, yesterday I hugged a water bottle all day and laid on the couch feeling like a steam roller had done a number on me.  But today is a better day...and no...I doubt it's the swine flu!  My DH has been bringing me tea and honey, kept the hot water bottle hot...he is a 'dear husband'!   Since being under the weather, I've had to miss two gkid's hockey games which ticks me off...can't visit my mom who I haven't seen in 2 weeks, but..I haven't had to go to work or do any around here lol!

It was great to be away in the sunshine but....the great (not yet) white north....there's no place like home.

Glad you had a good time, Noront.  Sorry you're under the weather.  I've caught cold on planes a few times too.  Take care of yourself, hope you feel better soon.

Sorry you took ill on your way home but it does look like you had a great time while you were there.  I am glad you got to enjoy your time in California.  Looks like perfect weather.

I love those kinds of vacations where you spend more time relaxing & visiting than running all over the place taking in the sights. Glad you had a good time. Last time I visited the LA area in October, it was chilly.
