Topic: Anybody in Costume Yet?

Additional Comments:

The company I work for does Halloween up right every year.  They have a costume contest and also a Halloween decorating contest.  The different departments go all out choosing themes and basically turning their workspaces into sets.  This year is no exception, it's absolutely amazing to walk through the building and see all the creativity.

As I type this, I'm wearing my vintage 1960s Girl Scout uniform and have chocolate chip cookies for visitors to my office.  (Our celebration always includes lots of treats.)  Mine looks identical to this except I also have the matching dark green beret:

Anyone else celebrating Halloween at work or school today?

Nobody dressed up at the jail but when I was a hospital nurse, we used to go nuts. Unfortunately, there would always be a disaster every year while we were dressed up & it was a bit unconventional for a bunch of witches & clowns to be coding a patient.

I had that same uniform, but I couldn't get my left arm in it now!  I had my Brownie beanie for a long time, and I am guessing it is still in my parent's attic.  I have all of my pins, though!  The Friendship Pin made a comeback during the late 60's and early 70's at my high school.  It looks a little like a peace sign.  Now I want to start looking for that beanie!

  • I loved being a Brownie! I read my Handbook cover to cover. ~i&b

I always wear something (Think Esther Y & R)  After Halloween I will post pics.  My  daughter sent me pics of her Zombie look for work.  She is going to make up the others. She said I could show you guys. It is fantastic, and horrible (may be too horrible for some.)

I hope others will post some.  You can always wear a mask or crop you head off (so appropriate for Halloween LOL)

No, I think the dogs would get scared if I showed up in a costume of some kind! Years ago I bought a witch's hat, long grey wig and witch's outfit. Got home, put it on and my dog flipped out. In future years she was okay with it and I also got her a witch's outfit. Hope you have fun!

  • Yeah, I've seen dogs get scared when they see their owners in a costume. Pets can be funny that way. ~i&b

Ingy, I used to have a Girl Scout uniform just like that one.  Wish I'd saved it as Scout stuff is collectible these days.  After school I'm taking Leo out shopping, will try to find a costume on sale.  Last year he didn't go trick-or-treating but this year he wants to troll the neighborhood with his posse, since it's Saturday night and one of the boys has a Halloween birthday.  I don't wear a costume but always have fun passing out candy.

    Enjoy the festivities!

  • Hard to think of something we actually wore back in the day as being ''collectible!'' ~i&b

Hi ingy. I am dressed up as a nurse today. I bought some scrubs at a second-hand store and I also have a fake stethoscope.

My boss dressed up as Willie Nelson. Too funny! In my department we also have a witch, a cowgirl, a baseball player, and Keanu Reeves from The Matrix. One manager wore a tag that said H1 and another manager wore one that said N1, and together they were H1N1.

The group in charge of the October birthday celebration in our department rented a popcorn machine, so we all had popcorn for a snack. It was cool.

I like your vintage Girl Scout costume!

    Happy Halloween!

  • We had someone dressed in scrubs but wearing a respirator mask, I think that was supposed to be an H1N1 reference, too. ~i&b

I bet you look adorable!  Any chance of getting a photo (with the beret on)?

No dressing up here.  We were told there are many important clients in the office today.  Guess they do not like to have a little fun.

  • When I worked at law firms, costumes were expressly forbidden! There was one firm, though, that capitulated to an anonymous letter ''threatening'' to trick or treat the lawyers. The staff donned masks and made the rounds, all the attorneys had candy in their offices just in case the ''threat'' was serious. LOL! ~i&b
