Topic: I Saw Some Pretty Cool Stuff Today ... By: Me - Dedicated To...YOU GUYS!

As always, Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

This one is, indeed, very autobiographical, and, quite simply, is dedicated to all the great folks here and all My ''Board Friends'' here, and in my life, who always put my chin up when I'm Down In The Dumps - You all most Definitely know who you are.

I Saw Some Cool Stuff Today

I took a long walk today,

Because I needed a change.

I needed to see some hope,

And by The Grace,

I Saw Some Cool Stuff Today.

I saw an old black chef - he was cookin barbeque,

For a young man with ivory skin - he'd made alot of mistakes.

He'd confused Hate with Love - he'd even been in The Klan.

Then as they sat down together to break bread,

I knew then that there's no such thing as 'Can't' - Only 'Can.'

We may be a people with shades of gray,

But I saw alot of cool stuff today.

I saw a boy throw a stick,

And his dog, doin some tricks.

I laughed at how such a simple love can point the way,

I saw some pretty cool stuff today.

I saw a man - used to be in The Army; joggin on just One Leg!

But he had a smile on his face while he soaked up the sun's rays.

I learned he had a baby girl on the way - and a pretty wife named Meg.

And he learned that I was seein some cool stuff that day.

I saw a boy holding a door,

For a fancy lady - with too many groceries.

He didn't want her bread - didn't want it fallin on the floor.

Nothin big, but not so small, this thing we call Courtesy.

I shook my head as I walked away,

And knew that I'd seen some pretty cool stuff that day.

I saw a man out on a walk with his son.

When they stopped to salute our Flag I thought they were done.

Then to my surprise, Father and child knelt to Pray,

I saw some pretty cool stuff today.

I saw two old men sittin on a front porch playin dominoes,

They were arguing back and forth - the way old men do.

Then I saw two elderly ladies with canes and smiles - smiling at them from a window.

And I thought about all I thought I knew,

But all I know, is that I saw some mighty cool stuff today.

Phooey on structure... at least when it comes to poetry. Just get it down... write from your heart and damn the torpedos... lol .... OT
