Topic: Sabrina SOD spoiler!

I think many people must know this but I read today she is leaving the show and I for one am VERY disappointed.  I like new characters on all these shows.  I think she is a great character and could have many relationships.  I think the senior actors on the show need to start accepting pay cuts so more characters can keep it interesting.  I'm sure Melody, Eric etc. are pulling in a huge paycheck which prohibits the rest of the group from getting more time etc.  Frankly, while most shows have historic, rock solid couples who have years of break ups and reconciliations, it's getting boring to watch..Victor/Nicki/  Reva/Josh  Carly/Jack  Brooke/Ridge.  Sad state of soaps I guess.

I doubt that the vets' paychecks is the reason that Sabrina is getting axed.  Gloria sucked up a good 85% of the air-time last year and the year before and she never got cut (unfortunately).  BTW, I'm sorry to see Sabrina go also.

The story in SOD said something to the effect of the reported killing of Sabrina is "a kneejerk reaction to falling ratings", going on to say that it's the idea that "who's getting the most airtime"? and then changing it.  I don't have the article in front of me, so those might not be the exact words, but it's the gist of what they said. 

While I can understand that, to some extent, I don't see Sabrina getting most of the airtime.  Didn't we just come off what seemed like a month of "All Gloria All the Time"?  Now we're treated to "As the Amber Turns" every day. 

  And, seriously, does anyone really think writing in a singing kid and featuring her at a jazz club that serves breakfast is going to make the ratings go up?  Also, making Nikki a total fool for David isn't going to help KEEP the older viewers, let alone bring in new ones.

  That preview clip leads us to believe David in involved in the car wreck that kills Sabrina, so I'm sure that will be another way of Victor ranting against Nikki.  And, come on, haven't they done that too much already?

  Back to the article.  It states that David and Sabrina's departures would be at different times, though are connected.  Also, those things considered, Victor and Nikki reuniting is not going to happen right away.  It doesn't say it will at all, but I think we all know it's inevitable.

Sorry, folks, but it looks like it's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

I could not disagree more.  Why should the veterans take pay cuts under any circumstance?  I sure wouldn't appreciate it if I had worked at a place for years and was told I would have to take a pay cut so they could bring in someone new and inexperienced.  *We appreciate your loyalty to us for all the years you have put in, so we are rewarding you with A PAY CUT!* Even if Sabrina were as great as you think she is, it is a bad idea.

Second, you may like Sabrina but I find her boring and annoying as hell.

ITA. The veterans hold the show together. The new people are much more interesting if they have a tie to the veterans. Adam comes to mind. They show get rid of Amber and David. Why should the actors that have made the show a success take a pay cut?

When new characters come in, some are accepted by the audience while others are not. That is the way things are. To insult the veterans with a pay cut would be a drastic move and should not even be considered.

I never really disliked Sabrina but disliked her relationship with Victor, perhaps if it had come about slower and I had a chance to buy into her? She is just one of the many wasted characters of late, why this show thinks that Victor and Nicki and their spawns have to be front and center all the time is beyond me. I know they are the center piece but it's a soap it's not suppose to be all about one family.

right now I'm glad to see the Newman family taking center stage. IMO it's better than being constantly subjected to watching Gloworm & her clan all the time. eom/faysie

I don't watch any other soaps so I don't know who most of the rock solid couples you mentioned are.  But I agree Nikki and Victor are one. 

I'm wondering if Adam and Heather will be the new Nikki and Victor on Y&R.  They seem to be headed that way.  I personally don't care for either Adam or Heather, but it seems most people do.

Yeah, I had seen this. I heard, though, it was due to sagging ratings..but don't even get me started on that. I, too, was just beginning to like Sabrina and certainly never wanted to see her die, now that I know she is going to die..I'm liking her even more for some reason. I think she is finding that she has what it takes to stand up to the Newman women and actually carve out a way for herself. I also love the fact that they are giving her and Jana a nice little burgeoning friendship. But Victor-Nikki and Josh and Revas don't happen every day, or really at all that much anymore. It is so hard for a new talent to come on the scene and actually be given a chance, especially with Y & R, where the ratings stakes seem to be the highest. I've tested the waters about Sabrina's popularity somewhat online, and she seems pretty popular to me. Don't know.

Is Sabrina's death supposed to be a SPOILER? It's been hinted at but it hasn't happened yet. I'll be disappointed to see her leave. I've liked the character right along and can't understand some disliking her so intensely. Yes, the kissing between her and Victor has been a FF for me. It seemed far too much and became annoying. Yes, people can love each other and who am I to say how other people should behave in showing their affection--but it certainly was complained enough on this Board--one would think someone who works for Y&R would be reading it to see what viewers are thinking--even though we do disagree with each other--you could get a general idea. I'll be sorry to see her go if she does. Yesterday or day before someone wrote she had just signed another contract so who knows what will actually happen. I hope she stays. At least the writers haven't dumbed her down yet and I hope they never do.---Paula

Paula I agree with you. I wish they'd not made this decision about Sabrina. But there have been spoilers about this from many different directions, and it seems most likely that her character is being written off... soon to die in a car crash. Personally, I've always liked Sabrina. I wondered about her at first, as she seemed to pursue Victor. But I still like the character, and would have loved to see her SL unfold. eom/faysie
