Subject: Just because they do porn doesn't mean they can't act. As you say the scripts are being written better. Some do it for the money, not that I'm condoing the choice. If directors have checked them out and are hiring they must have some talent. I'd never condone the art but won't say they shouldn't be given a shot to get OUT if they have the ability to move away from it. They deserve the chance just as much as the girls not getting paid and finding a way to , ahem, the couch.eom/PN

Subject: There are WAYS of 'getting out'! Doing REAL auditions & studying is one way to be taken seriously & getting noticed. It certainly beats hoping that some sleazebag director or producer is going to see you doing porn & 'discover you' is just plain stupid! More than blaming the girls doing the porn, I look at the producers & directors who seem to feel that this is where they need to go to find a pool of women who can act as sick & disgusting. There are good actresses waiting tables, parking cars, doing ANYTHING BUT porn to make ends meet. There are very few legitimate, mainstream actresses that are taken seriously, who got their start in porn. There have been those who have posed nude for magazines like Playboy, but that is VERY different from porn. eom

Subject: Are you really that naive?????? Most of those same lovelies that wait tables do MORE than the girls in porn films to get a role. As far as classes, who says they don't attend? Porn pays and some need the money. No it's not the best choice but to say the others are innocent and talented and make better choices? I hope you're joking because the percentage of those who don't visit the couch is VERY low. Maybe you think you know it all but on this subject you are sadly lacking in the reality department. This isn't new - so many ladies from the golden era include their 'porn' days in their autobiographies.eom/PN

Subject: Naive?! Hardly. I'm not talking about those who opt to 'wait' tables in strip clubs. I'm talking about waiting tables in fine dining establishments & the like. Sorry, but most of the people in acting class are serious actors, NOT porn stars! It hasn't always been acceptable to include porn & even being a nude model in a serious resume. I'm not saying that it hasn't been happening, but it wasn't as acceptable & was seen as a real career ender if it was found out--before the Internet. I'm also not saying that the casting couch is a new thing either. It exists at the community theater level on up. But true acting isn't a requirement for the job of doing porn. There are men & women making it in their backyards these days, w/NO experience. eom

Subject: Once again the point went over your head or you are purposely missing it. I'm not talking about legit jobs like waitressing. I'm talking about the high percentage who use sex to get roles. NOT in porn but as they audition or make the rounds. You DID know that's what I meant I'm sure. Just because they do it behind closed doors doesn't make them any different than those who do it in the porn business. They may all have just as much talent as the next person. If porn stars have talent they have every right to move on to mainstream features. The others have done it secretly and that's to ensure it won't follow in the press. Waiting tables? Yeah that's what I meant. PUH!! eom/PN

Subject: PN: I've been involved in the entertainment business for over 40 yrs & while the casting couch exists, the majority of actors don't get their jobs because of it. Most know that it isn't a sure thing if you sleep w/a director or producer. Just as most have known that having a porn history doesn't give you a leg up on legitimate acting roles. Until fairly recently, it was much more taboo. They knew that once you crossed that line you weren't taken nearly as seriously. That applied whether you were doing community theater or television. Most actors don't do porn to make ends meet. Most do legit jobs along the way. But there are those who either get manipulated into doing porn, or they LIKE doing it & don't care if they ever get considered for mainstream work. eom
