Subject: Hi, vh! Glad to see you here. I think no matter how many complaints there are, ratings are still good because it came out when reality shows were novelty so all those that came out at that time are better than what is around now. It seems that there are reality shows nowadays just to get something stupid on TV. I have never heard of Kara D. either, that's why I asked but have read some things on her since and she has written a lot of songs for some major singers. This is someone different than you describe. You are thinking of Diane Warren. She was a guest judge one season. Of the three judges, I guess I respect Simon the most even if I don't always (maybe that should be usually?, lol) agree with him. At least he gives a critique whereas Randy -Mr. ''Dawg''- and Paula say something similar each time. The only thing I like about Paula is that she will soften Simon's blows. When her prescription meds are timed right, she seems to be in control and does quite well. I hope Kara will bring something that these other two don't. I don't want her to be a female Simon but someone who gives constructive criticism without being nasty. I think Idol Gives Back will work much better by having it on alternate years. Especially this year won't be good to ask for money when everyone is hurting. It saves them production costs too. I wish they would have addressed the voting and theme nights besides the changes they made, but depending on these changes, maybe they will next year. I'm interested to see how this season will go and I'm looking forward to the wild card. I'm sure you saw above that Songbird says 'Hi'. We're all waiting to see how this season goes first. There are others on this board that like to discuss the show so I'm sure this board won't be lacking any AI posts. ~ eom. Linda
