Topic: The movie 'Misery' is on....The Weather Channel?

Additional Comments: What??? This isn't even a weather-related movie like "Twister" ..(or is it?) What is going on with tv lately? I thought it was bad when Cartoon Network showed "Dumb and Dumber" (it's not even a cartoon). I don't get it. Spelling Bee's on ESPN, no music on MTV (or very little), ...what's next, all drama movies on Comedy Central, football games on Lifetime? Anything goes anywhere anymore.

I agree - it's bizarre!  I saw that advertised somewhere myself and thought, OMG, all the cable channels are trying it - if you don't get enough viewers, start showing movies you know some people will watch, and maybe they'll stick with you (or at least be influenced by your ads).  I think VH1 shows some odd movies, plus MTV, the History Channel, etc. etc.  I'm not surprised to see any movie on any channel anymore!  I guess movie rentals & purchases are selling more than anything else these days, and they want to get in on that market any way they can.

  • And here's another one.....The Addams Family movie is showing on MTV right now. I can't even imagine why or how that would appeal to their audience agewise .... The 'M' in MTV doesn't stand for Music anymore. jpa
  • M in MTV stands for 'miscellaneous' now. And it depends on ratings whether you get weather on The Whatever Channel.
  • I loved MTV in the early years Thomas Dolby, She blinded me with Science ,The Tubes, She's a Beauty. More inside.)//S'mom

What?! They now show MOVIES on the weather channel?

Geez, wasn't it bad enough that you couldn't get the weather on the weather channel?

  • They didn't even put the weather at the bottom of the screen or anything....although during commercial breaks they did do some weather updates. It doesn't make any sense. jpa

I don't mind the Weather Channel airing movies whose plots rely heavily on the weather. The Perfect Storm is a good example. But Misery? Their reasoning was that a snowstorm figures into the plot. Well, it wasn't exactly the leading factor! It just... weird.

  • I never saw the movie before, but of course have heard of it. Saw the blizzard and figured that must be why. STILL, I don't get it ! : 0 jpa
