Topic: *Dancing* & last night's elimination: Kelly's won my heart, but ...

Additional Comments:

... I really thought she was the one who should have been cut, not Aaron.  I think they're both about as good at dancing at this point (some really good performances, some with errors) but, with the way he had been SO dramatically improving lately and his complete devotion to continuing that, I think he should have been given more of a chance to show just how great he could be.  I thought he had some of the most striking and beautiful performances.

But then, I would have expected him to go next week, too.  When it comes to comparing anyone to Mya, Kelly (is that the model's name? wow has she gotten good - I LOVED their futuristic dance!) and Donny (the showman who's been fixing a lot of his problems lately, too), there isn't much doubt they'll be the final three.

Whatta you think?

I was okay seeing Aaron go but then I'd have been okay seeing Kelly or Donny go too!  I agree Mya and Joanna will be in the finals but as to the third one it all depends on the fan base.  I've loved seeing Kelly's self confidence grow!  I don't know much about her but with her parents I would think she'd need some self identification!! Something she can be good at and proud of!!!  At least she knows now she CAN excel if she puts her mind to it! I've been voting for her and Donny right along. But I WILL vote for whoever I think is the best dancer for the winner. No pity votes then!!!!

  • I agree, fuzz; it really seems like Kelly's being honest with us about her *growth* during this whole process, doesn't it, and your heart just goes out to her. It's going to be tough when she goes! But I know, she & Donny will have to go, sooner or later. It seems like such a given this year that Mya will win, doesn't it? Sorta disappointing. On the other hand the fan base thing can really switch things up; I really didn't think Emmitt (sp?) Smith would win before, when his competition was more of a real dancer, but he won anyway. That makes it a fun show to watch, doesn't it? -Spell

I love Kelly and Louis. I do not care if she is the best dancer left. This show has never been about the best dancer. Plus anyone who is not a Ballas/Hough automatically gets my support.

I cannot stand Aaron. He does not seem to take bad comments about his dancing very well. I do not know, but he just seems so smarmy. I have never been a fan of Karina, so I usually root against whomever she is partnered with.

The judges seem to have a hard-on for Derek. I always think Joanna looks stiff (dirty) out on the dance floor. Kind of ironic that she was playing a robot in the futuristic dance, when I feel like she is a robot in all of her dances.

As for Dimitry and Mya. I love Dimitry, even though it seems like Len hates him. I just never warmed up to Mya. Technically she is great, and she seems like an okay person, but I just do not care about her. Also, the judges seem to be doing damage control on her ringer status.

If a pro is going to get a ringer can't it be Jonathan? Or someone else that does not have Ballas or Hough in their name?

If this does not make sense, forgive me, I am kind of using this as a distraction right now.

  • I understand completely and agree. Tired of Derek. Scooby
  • Derek is a BRAT!! There are times I don't know how she is staying on her feet. He upstages, mugs (constantly) and takes chances an amateur can't control and forgets SHE is the one competing. His futuristic number was fantastic but that doesn't make up for his antics. For that reason I hope they don't win. His head is big enough. I do, however, like Mark Ballas and think he gets guilt by association with the Houghs. eom/WE
  • How about when LOUIS burst into tears in that backstage bit, not Kelly?!? He seems to have a really good heart. But then who can resist Kelly? I used to think she was a real flake (and still may be in some ways), but wow, you can read her emotions so clearly ... and she's so humble, so good-natured. It makes me forgive errors in her dancing! Kind of the opposite of Mya; I know just what you mean, she seems kind of aloof and is hard to feel any emotion for. But she's so technically flawless that you can't deny her. Hey, I hope you're doing all right personally, Meem, and hope whatever you're dealing with is manageable. I especially feel for you right now ... I got a letter in the mail today myself, telling me my brain tumor is acting up again, worse than ever, and they want to treat me for SIX different things my body's doing! Gee whiz, it's never been trouble before besides just growing, and when they did surgery or radiation on it things went back to normal before. I guess it's part of getting older, who knows. I sure feel fine these days otherwise, so it's gunna be hard to deal with. Anyway - sorry for rambling, I just wanted you to know I feel for you & commiserate, whatever it is you're dealing with. -Spell
  • Spelling Addict, I had no idea you had such dire health issues!!! I'm so, so sorry and hope it's not as bad as it sounds! And that it all rights itself with a minimum of pain and hassle!!! (((hugs))) eom fuzzwuzz
  • Hope everything goes well for you Spelling! I am fine. My brother just died at the age of 35 due to pancreatic cancer. Something that he has been fighting for awhile. And sadly, he leaves behind his wife and 3 month old daughter. Things have been kind of chaotic lately. eom Mimi
  • Oh my gosh, Mimi, that's really, really sad!!! I'm so sorry! Everyone must be just heartbroken!!! Way, way too young! Terrible!! eom fuzzwuzz
  • Hey fuzz - I'll tell you the worst part. I've dealt with the tumor before so am used to getting treatment, but as of today I've argued with probably 5 *assistants* in the doctor's office about how we proceed. I finally got a letter spelling it all out, and rather than letting me go over all the results & suggested treatment with the DOCTOR - something I think is quite reasonable under the circumstances, or am I crazy?? - they seem to want to pass me from one assistant to the other, who simply want to call my pharmacy and prescribe the drugs. After I just hung up on probably the 6th person I've dealt with so far, it finally occurred to me: It's my lack of INSURANCE COVERAGE that's guiding their unwillingness to let me meet with the doctor himself now. They have a system for dealing with lesser-paying patients, and I'm not cooperating. Sorry, I shouldn't be ranting here - I need to send the medical center a letter or two, and find me a good discussion board about pituitary care so I can rant there! Anyway thanks so much for your good wishes, that helps. ;o) -Spell

I agree. I really wanted Aaron ti make it at least one more week but it really was between he and Kelly. Whichever one went this week the other should go next week. He made great strides and was so respectful of the pros and judges.

Joanna is the model. Seems she, Mya and Donny will be the top three. It's too hard to tell what fanbases will do for the finals. Donny is a great showman but he makes obvious mistakes. If he can keep that in check he might take the fugly trophy. Then again Kelly is still here so ya never know.

  • That's it - Joanna. I don't know why I can't remember her name! I guess it's from not having heard of her before, and she's pretty quiet/low-key so hasn't made that big an impression on me. -Spell
