I've got a question for those ABC execs. Just how greedy are you? How much is "enough" money? It seems like you require any new show to perform on the scale of "Grey's Anatomy," but that one's a rarity and it just isn't gunna happen in every time slot. Get over yourselves!
You're raking in the dough on a number of shows these days; use your big budget to keep some lesser-performing but QUALITY shows on the air. Revise your definition of "success" to include providing some good family programming, some non-violent, thinking man's shows you can be proud of, not just the most popular or cutting-edge ones.
I know it's improbable you'll ever take this advice, but I'm not going to give up hope!

The audience dropped to barely half of what the pilot got. I like the show, but when that many people quit watching that soon... I would have cancelled it too, even as a fan. It wasn't like no one checked out the show. A lot did, and a huge number of them didn't come back. Maybe in another year, Eastwick could have been a hit. Oh, well.

Sounds like you're thinking like the network execs, lisa. Please don't go to the Dark Side!! Try to keep holding out for the better shows, no matter what. Remember the days of *Friends,* *Cheers,* *Seinfeld* and others that needed time (sometimes a LONG time) to build up their audience? I see no reason to stop believing in the little-shows-that-could, except for that one ugly element: Greed. -SpellingAddict
Network execs should love me, because I do view TV as a business and I generally agree with cancellation decisions. Including this one. Sorry the show is done, but it had a decent-size audience and quickly lost a huge chunk of it. eom/lisa3
Dax) Spell, Friends doesn't belong in the discussion with Cheers and Seinfeld (well, as classic sitcoms, yes, but not in the 'slow-starter' category).. Friends and ER (started on the same night) were both first season smash hits...
Is that right? I'm remembering a lot of criticism of it the first year, which kept me from watching it until later. Maybe I'm thinking of the critics and not the public. Anyway thanks for setting me straight, Dax. ;-D -Spell
Dax) I think critics were 'okay' on Friends in the beginning... not loudly for OR against... or 'it's funny, but so what?'... but it was a pretty big hit right away, and then it blew up... and all six of the cast had been in something like more than a dozen combined failed pilots before it...

I think we all knew this was coming, but the show had it's charms. In my opinion, the witches/women could have had more active powers, and done more with them. But I guess it had to build. Frankly, the bad guy wasn't near as interesting as they wanted us to think he was. Then killing Kyle XY wasn't such a good idea.
Anyway, another show bites the dust. Let's hope there's something good coming down the line.

I'm just glad Ugly Betty is being moved to Wednesday. IMHO, the show has been really great this season and doesn't deserve being shoved in outland Friday.

It is?? You mean, in that 10:00 time slot? I hadn't heard about that. Not that this necessarily means it has any more hope of surviving, but at least it'll be combined with some real hits which may give it a few more viewers. I continue to pray for *Betty,* which I think is the most imaginative and fun-to-watch show on the air right now. -SpellingAddict
Yep - It was apparently confirmed by the producers to AfterElton who reported it first, then TVSquad picked it up and said it was the 10:00pm slot to go against Leno and CSI:NY. They think it will be good to have the sit-com lead ins. - JT
UPDATE: Now they say it will probably go to the Wednesday 8pm slot - but then Auseillo is saying it's staying on Fridays. So, I guess we'll have to see. - JT

i don't watch eastwick, but i know any show unfortunate enough to get that time slot is doomed. abc should just black out during that time period. i am still disgusted about dirty sexy money being cancel.

I liked dirty sexy money too. Kimbee
Me three! And I missed a couple eps of *Eastwick,* meaning I've had trouble following all the plots, but from what I've seen it's a really fun show. Let's hear it for the non-cop/non-violent shows with decent actors that are put together with some creativity and heart!! They're quickly becoming extinct. -SpellingAddict

Why even start watching any new show. It's gone before it even has a chance. And people are quick to judge. Like the "wow that was fast thread." Someone watches one episode and then gives up. No wonder ratings are bad.
Is AB-freakin'-C the worst about doing this? I'm getting tired of investing in their programs to just have them wiped away.

I'm starting to feel that way too, why invest in a show if there not going to give it a chance. Kimbee
