Seriously, I want more Peggy and Pete. They are one of the few people I ship on television.
The proposal was definitely creepy--Henry doesn't even know her, just has this fantasy in his head about what she is. I don't think she's in love with anyone, just the fantasy that he can provide with his fainting couches.
Pete seems to have matured a lot the last time we've seen him. He was nice to Hildy, didn't throw a tantrum when he found out Ken became Head of Accounts and his decision not to go to Roger's daughters wedding totally made me adore him even more. I love that Trudy stayed with him, even though I want Pete/Peggy.
As much as Don deserved Betty turning against him, what with all the cheating and the lying, I still really felt for him when she said she didn't love him anymore. He's right back where he started - no love and unwanted. Sad, but true. All he has now is his children, and the only other person who truly loved him is dead (Adam).
On a shallow note, Don in his casual wear was gorgeous.

This was a very sad episode and very hard to watch. I don't think I will take a second viewing on this one.
I was also Sally's age when this took place. I remember being dismissed from school and walking home. I was more concerned that our Principal, Mrs. Kennedy, was related to the President and how very sad it was for her.
Yes, I remember my mother crying. Everyone crying. Then I remember every channel 24/7 with the coverage for days and days. It never really struck me before that everyone was watching when Oswald was shot. But of course they were all glued to their sets.
Back to MM.... Both Joan and Trudy in one episode! And a little Peggy and Pete was enough for me. I am thinking that next week (or next year) we will see Joan back and SC.
I find I don't really care what happens to Betty. And I just watch Don every week wondering what else he can do, how far he can stray. It is interesting but it doesn't keep me coming back year to year.
I still think this is the best show on TV. The writing and directing are so far above everything else. So much can be said in the quiet moments, the long walk down the hall to a crying baby, the pouring of a drink, etc.

Another great episode! I have to say, though, that I found myself in tears watching the coverage of President Kennedy's assassination. It brought back bitter memories for this old lady and was kinda hard to watch.
As much of a scoundrel and cad as Don Draper is, how could anyone not feel so bad for him after Betts told him that she doesn't love him anymore. He deserves it, but it still was heart wrenching and the look on his face just killed me.
I believe with all my heart that Sterling loves Joan. I hope they somehow get rid of that good-for-nothing hubby of hers (still cannot get past the fact that he raped her on the floor of Don Draper's office) and put her and Roger together. His silly little wife needs to find a boyfriend her own age. Ugh.
Betty does NOT love Henry. She's hurting over Don and just wants someone to make her the center of his attention. I think that next season will find her and Don working their way back to each other. At least I hope so.
I love Pete Campbell! I felt so bad for him when he was told that Cosgrove got the promotion that he, himself, should have gotten. I don't really trust Duck so I don't know about Pete leaving to work for him, but I want him to get some credit at Sterling Cooper for working his butt off the way he does.
Peggy...get away from Duck! Ewww! I'm like you, Mimi....I want to see them together and I want to see them get their baby back and raise it together.
I love this show!!!

What a great episode. All the while I was watching I thought it was the finale and when it ended I thought, oh how SAD... and what a long wait it will be... and then the coming attractions! WOW!!!! One last week... it was like a gift. I can't wait to see what next week brings...
I still think that Roger somehow loves Joan and realizes his young wife is not "the one". I'm not a fan of Pete and while he handled the bad news maturely this time, I don't really care what happens to him.
When the news of Kennedy having died came across the TV and they showed Betty crying and her kids just looking at her, that is my personal memory as well. I was just about Sally's age and didn't really understand why my mother was crying but I still remember it vividly today some 46 years later. Very interesting that all those people skipped the wedding due to mourning a president.
and Don and Betty - I agree, I don't think that Betty loves the old guy, but it could be a way out of her marriage to Don... she's still very wounded from her recent finding of Dick and thinking back on all those affairs... gosh, if she only knew about the teacher. There's no way, she'd leave Don w/out a back up plan and 3 kids. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
Thankfully one more episode... ahhhhhh another great season!
