Okay, bring on Christmas!  I've seen the Budweiser Clydesdales ad so I'm now officially in the mood.

Now the wait for the Campbell's snowman kid begins.

Which favorites have you seen or are you looking forward to?  And which new ones get on your nerves?

I love the holiday commercials, but I am anxiously awaiting the one with Tony Bennett singing "Are you having any fun?"  I love that commercial and it makes me feel good.

  • Oh, yeah, and I used to love the Joe Boxer Christmas commercials! It's too bad they don't run that any longer.
  • Oh, yeah, again! I'm totally in love with the Overstock.com holiday commercial with the couple singing ''If not for you''. I just adore it!!
  • I LOVE that song Tony Bennett sings!! Can't remember who the sponsor is now, but who cares; it's Tony that I dig, not the product. It even caused me to go online to try & find what record of his that was on, how long ago; I think it was the 50's or something. The Clydesdales may make me feel homey & nostalgic, but Tony's commercial makes me SWING, baby! -Spell
  • Was the Joe Boxer commercial the one where the black dude is dancing around or something, I.W.T.M.TV? I remember LOVING that commercial, and am sorry I haven't seen it in a while, either. I'd love to see it again. -Spell
  • In my local area, that Tony Bennett commercial is usually in a promo for a local grocery store (here, it's Genuardi's and Safeway, but I would guess it's been tailored to fit into whatever area you live in). The song, ''Are You Having Any Fun?'' was recorded by Tony Bennett and The Count Basie Orchestra originally in the 1950's and I do believe it's on his Duets cd as well. It's a fun song, I downloaded it last year.
  • Yes, Spell, that's the one! He was so adorable, hoping around and dancing with just his boxers on. I miss him, LOL

The Norelco Santa ad is a perennial (sp) favorite.  As is the one of the guy coming home from school for Christmas--IRL I think that the kid playing the little sister has graduated from college herself by now!

I like the gingerbread man fixing his house, especially when someone eats part of the roof, exposing his wife taking a bath!  Don't think I'll ever tire of that one! :)

  • Peter coming home is my all-time favorite. I think it's been around since the late 1970s, so that little girl probably has kids of her own by now. -Miss H
  • I love the Peter coming home commercial!

My favorite right now is the Capital One ad where the elves are frantic because Santa is too busy creating an image for his personalized credit card instead of packing up his sleigh. He chooses a picture of himself at the beach, and this tall elf with sunglasses and dog tags says "Your wife's a lucky man sir!" and Santa replies, "Yes she is." It cracks me up everytime. I also like the old Hershey's ad where the Kisses are dropping to the tune of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." It's not the holidays without me seeing that.

The commercials I can't stand are the ones for Kay, Jared, and any other jeweler. Getting a diamond for Christmas is not the end-all and be-all, and it practically says that a man isn't good enough until he gives his woman the real, expensive thing. Screw them! Have you seen the bling on HSN or QVC? ? It looks the same, can last just as long, and is a lot cheaper. I have several rings from them, and am quite happy with the fake stuff. No one can tell it's not real unless they're an expert.

  • One really wonders how many people have the *disposable income* to spend on diamonds now anyway, huh? I'm afraid those luxury item companies are really going to suffer this year, with a lot of them maybe going out of business. Dollar stores will be BOOMING this Christmas, along with Walmart, Target and the other cheaper places. I'm a big fan of charity outlets like St. Vincent de Paul, Value Village and the like. (I don't know if these are all over the country; maybe they're only in my area.) -Spell
  • Chewbaca, it's so funny that you mention diamonds/bling and how silly it is. I watch QVC a lot and there are two long-time hosts who openly admitted that they wear/gave their branded cubic zirconia, Diamonique, instead of real diamonds. One male host said years ago that he and his intended bride decided that they wanted to buy a house and instead of investing in an expensive rock, they'd buy a nice Diamonique. If they had not told anyone, you'd never have believed it wasn't real. Another host has worn Diamonique wedding sets for many years because she and her husband adopted a little girl and built a new house and realized that there were more important things in the world than spending bookoo bucks on a diamond engagement ring. IMO, that's pretty smart thinking.

There are so many Christmas commercials that I love, but of course, I am blanking on them all right now!!

As with other posters, I really like the M&M's one where Santa faints! It looks so beautiful and cozy and the Santa is great!

I also like the Walmart commercial where the cashiers are flashing their checkout lights in tune to the music.

Along the same line there is a Hallmark commercial for their musical gingerbread house where the one little girl starts to notice that her family and the snowflakes outside are doing everything in tune to the music from the gingerbread house...no one else is aware of this, but the look in her eyes is so cute, very magical!

But I think my favourite commercial for the past three years has been the Pampers commercial. It shows a whole bunch of babies who are all sleeping while Silent Night is being sung so peacefully, like a lullaby. The song is beautiful and the sleeping babes melt my heart everytime...especially the little one who is sucking in his sleep....oh so cute! I first saw that commercial the year my daughter was born, and at her first Christmas it always caught my attention becuase it reminded me so much of her when she was sleeping. If she was awake and playing she'd stop what she was doing and look at the tv, she just loved the music, and then last year loved the babies in the commercial too! It's become a special commercial to me, and now when I see it, I stop what I'm doing to watch it!

  • I just rememberd another one I like....the Hersey's Kiss commercial, where all the little kisses are in the shape of a bell, and are playing ''We Wish You A Merry Christmas''. That one always puts a smile on my face for some reason! /Skullys Girl

Always love the M&Ms.  Another cute one I saw is one of the Insurance companies I think.  A little girl comes up to daddy and asks to borrow the car to go to a party and he asks who's going to be there and she names some girls and Dylan... Dad, questions the Dylan a little and then tosses the keys.  As she picks up the keys, we see she is no longer a little girl but a teenager.  Then a little boy walks down the stairs and Dad asks where he is going and he replies "Work".  It's kind of like how WE see them, and how everone else sees them.

Hubby likes the Mac VS PC ones.

It's not Christmas until Peter comes home. It has been playing since I was a kid and I love that it has not changed one bit. I wonder how long Peter is going to keep coming home alone and I guess, Until his family accepts his lover Steve.

For me it's the M&M's Santa ad.
    "He does exist!"
    "They do exist!"
    *thud*

If I see/hear the Radio City show ad one more time, I'm going to kill someone.

Totally not Christmas related, but has anyone seen the Little Gordon Ramsey commercials? They are hysterical!!
