From Heather Arsenault's About Soap Operas page:

Passions has officially closed down production. The last episode was shot on March 29. No other network, or web property, has swept in this time to pick the show up and save it for a second time. As fans our hopes are dwindling and we must start to embrace the idea that the final months of airing episodes are the last times we'll spend with the folks in Harmony. Until now many of us thought there was a chance that Passions may be saved, but a recent post on McKenzie Westmore's message board, by McKenzie herself, has caused me to accept that the end is inevitable

And here's McKenzie Westmore's ''Goodbye'' over at her message board.

Goodbye to Passions...

I guess I never posted before about a farewell to Passions because I didnt really want to believe that it was over until we actually filmed a final scene. Well my friends, that day has come. It was a very sad day in Harmony, a town in which we all must say goodbye to. The last and final episode was shot today and emotions were very high as we were all so upset to say goodbye to one another and our second home of 4024 Radford Ave. I will never forget my days in Paris; filming in oxnard; the boat (and of course the tango) with Galen; and so many more memorable scenes. its still not completely sinking in (but the tears are) that this is all over. But, all good things must come to an end and I want to thank all of you for your amazing love and support through the years! you have been the BEST fans a soap could ever ask for and your loyalty to me as an actress and the show has always been appreciated! i will continue to keep this site up and running so please continue to stop by because even though we have to say goodbye to Sheridan Crane, McKenzie Westmore is continuing on! i will continue to keep you posted on my latest projects, charities and of course the family! and I will stop in for a post or chat every now and again! So Bon Voyage Passions, Hello World!
God Bless,
Mac

My thoughts:

Hello world indeed! Some of these folks have been with the show since it started!

Ya know -- it really would be nice if NBC worked out some kind of deal with DirecTV to show a one hour recap of what's been happening along with the final show on regular network TV, even if it were a week later or something.

I wonder if Tabitha gets the last line... lol!

A big part of the reason I got DirecTV was for Passions.  Now that they've cancelled Passions I'm getting rid of them, DTV has turned out to be a major disappointment and they didn't even keep their end of the bargain by keeping Passions.  And Passions has been SO AWFUL lately that I haven't even watched in 2 weeks (which is only 6 eps since they only air Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday).  I'm not sure I'm even going to stay with DTV until the end of Passions, which if I understand correctly won't be until August since they cut the week to 3 days instead of 5.

With James E Reilly writing for the show Passions never stood a chance. It was always a parody of soaps anyway and soaps are a parody of real life somewhat. Too bad for the personnel of the show. I hope the best for them.

  • I agree. The show lately, more than ever is such a parody. I half expect to hear a laugh track.

Passions was good, for a soap opera and the cast all did their best with whatever they were given. It's too bad that it couldn't have ended more gracefully, instead of suddenly going to Direct TV.I am hoping to find out how it ends this August.

I still say, get rid of some of the boring Judge shows and bring Passions back to regular TV. There are still a lot of fans that would love it. Get new writers, finish some of the story lines and believe me we would all be watching it. It is a great soap with so much potential and the characters were great.

  • I too was curious how the show would come across if written by a different headwriter.
