I was going to come here and complain about the humidity. Then I looked and it's only 26% and 97 degrees. I'd swear it's more like 80% out there so it's a good thing I don't live where that's an issue.

Some people like it humid, I hate it.

How about you: Humid heat or dry heat?

The humidity was one of the hardest things to get used to again when we returned from living in England.  But it's winter here now so for the time being I'm putting the thoughts of humid summers out of my mind!

The humidity can easily get into the 90%range in summer here.

  • I learn something new every day and am having one of those DUH! moments. I didn't even think of parts of Australia being humid. I guess I assumed you were far enough from the tropical regions. So if one was to visit, what months should a humidity hater avoid? /JoEllen

Well, hum, I thought I preferred humidity over dry heat and I guess I still do.  I cannot stand Arizona and the so-called "dry-heat."  It doesn't frikkin' matter to me if it's a dry heat, if it's 117, it's STILL 117.  I think it depends on the temperature.  If it's cool, the humidity can still be high, but not felt.

Today was a beautiful, glorious day.  However, I can't count on it to last.

  • We get the high humidity with the fog but that doesn't bother me since the temperatures are cooler then. HOw does one cool themselves in the heat when the humidity is too high and sweat doesn't evaporate? /JoEllen
  • Sweat is what keeps me cool. That's why I prefer moist heat over dry heat. In AZ, my sweat dries faster than it can cool me. I think that humidity probably affects people's breathing ability more than anything else. At least for me, I have more trouble breathing when it's 100+ with 90% humidity. No more of those days for me, unless I travel. eom/Jenny

Well, I must be the oddball.  I LOVE humidity.  ESPECIALLY when it's hot.  I lived in Denver when I was in the Air Force and believe me, it gets hot there in the summer and it's so DRY..  I couldn't breathe.  I remember when I got out of the Air Force in the middle of summer, it was in the 90s in Denver and when I got back to Texas, it was about the same temp but lots of humidity.  I could BREATHE again.  I guess I just need the humidity.  When we flew to San diego I could tell when we flew over Arizona, my nose dried up and I felt like i was filled with concrete.  Then we got to San Diego and the humidity and I could breathe again.

  • I know people who just love the humidity. If it has to be hot, give me dry heat any day. Energy drains from me if my skin can't breathe; I don't like the sticky feel unless I'm near a pool. /JoEllen

I don't mind the humidity if it's cool.  I love a cool rainy day, or a cool sunny day.  It's mainly the heat I don't care for, and the humidity makes that worse.

Lucky for me, I'm an indoor girl, and it's cool and comfy in here.

  • I guess that's it, the heat + the humidity. I don't mind the fog and cool days. I used to hate it but I don't mind it as much any more. / JoEllen

No humidity for me, please. I like that my weather here has a nice mix... warm days, cool nights. And humidity only once in awhile.

  • That is usually our climate here, except we get the fog. Ick. /JoEllen

I loathe humidity.   It is raining here right now, but it's 70°, which after being 95° for the last few days feel wonderful.

Humidity is what made me want to hightail it out of FL and living between the Gulf Coast and Tampa Bay.   Noooooooooo!    The most humid day here doesn't feel as oppressing as that humidity did.

The only dry climate I ever lived in was Denver (Littleton.)    I didn't like that we had to have a watering system for our lawn and that it almost NEVER rained, but I sure didn't miss the humidity one bit!

  • There is no way I'd be able to live in FL. Humidity + heat = energy drain and headaches. /JoEllen

No humidity here.  It's 70 degrees, blue skies and a very light breeze.  I HATE humidity.  It's not good for my *do*.
