Group Number - ''Ain't No Stopping Us Now'' - They sound better as a trio with backup singers than as a group.

FORD COMMERCIAL VIDEO

RECAP of last evening with comments by the judges

Fantasia screams a song at the top of her lungs - She's got hideous red hair with matching hideous nails which match her hideous song

ELIMINATIONS BEGIN:

VIDEO - DAVID A GOES HOME - Murray Utah - He's mobbed by cheerleaders. He's mobbed at the mall. We see him visiting his High School. Overwhelmed, he begins to cry and repeats the word GOSH over and over again. He seems to find the entire experience unbelievable.

VIDEO of David A and his time on Idol is shown

VIDEO - SYESHA GOES HOME - Sarasota FL - She's mobbed by crazed Floridians. She visits her family and her High School. Screaming fans seem to be everywhere. We see her taking a helicopter ride. She cries while expressing her happiness and gratitude to everyone.

VIDEO of Syesha and her time on Idol is shown

VIDEO - DAVID C GOES HOME - Kansas City MO - He goes to the Fox Studios first, then heads downtown. He's greeted by the throngs and sings for them. He then heads to his elementary school to surprise his music teacher who inspired him to pursue his love of music. We meet his brother Andrew who was the one who originally went to audition, not David!! A parade follows with screaming fans.

VIDEO of David C and his time spent on Idol is shown

THE FINALISTS - David A and David C - The Judges and Nigel have their wish, the two Davids!

Syesha M is ELIMINATED -- She has no comment because she says there would be too much to say.

Best wishes to Syesha and her future in music! Hopefully, she will find a place in musical theater.

I liked Fantasia when she was on AI, even voted for her a few times, but her performance last night was AWWWWWWWWWWFUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! The look on Simon's face though was hysterical. I think I had the same look on mine after watching her.

Wonder who told her that flaming red hair was a good look for her?!!! LOL!!!!

  • Loved Simon's face. That's ''Karma'' at work. I bet she thought the hair and nails up all by her little self. They matched the schrieking, didn't they? Finally, we had some levity on this show. Just think, it will be all over YouTube. (LOL) /sb

I don't usually watch the elimination night, and it sounds like I made a wise choice not to watch last night! I can not STAND Fantasia!! Couldn't stand here on the season she WON. Latoya London or Jennifer Hudson were MUCH better.

Annnnywaaayyyy, I just felt like Syesha would be the one to go home, so no surprise there. And next week, might be good, but are the judges and producers choosing the songs again???? If it's like last week, I don't think I'll bother. David Cook should win. David A is good, but he is not ''entertaining'' in my opinion.

    Thanks for the recap!

  • You are SO right about Jennifer and LaToya. Those ladies put up with such crap from Simon and that show so ''Blessed Shrieky Bird'' could win. As for the song next week, they will sing one chosen from that blasted Songwriters Contest that Ryan has been promoting. The annointed one will get the better song and the other will get the 'dud'. They will also sing a song they've previously performed this year. I don't know if there will be a third song. The Songwriter songs are usually insipid duds. Next week will be more of the same with possibly a group number or two. Woohoo!!!! TPTB will continue with the manipulation. Maybe you can record it and 'FF' through most of the show like many do. /sb

WOW! Wasn't that a shocker! LOL!

The Group Number was much better tonight. Syesha is the clear performer with DC a close second. She was doing a jazz square right with the music (and singing at the same time-amazing!) while the two guys just kind moved back and forth at the beginning of the number. Did you notice how they even had the two Davids right out in front in one bit of staging and Syesha was in the middle but in back of them? Was that to say, here are your Final 2? Also, did anyone notice that the song they sang, "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now", is the same one that Clay and Ruben sang on their final night? Is AI recycling now?

The back home segments were nice to see and very emotional for the contestants. That Mayor of David A.'s was a character, though. The Ford Commercial was kind of nice as showing their dreams of the future. The whole show was pretty good, long, but good EXCEPT for Fantasia's performance. I didn't care for her the season she won, but she did have her few good moments. Tonight she was just awful! I hope she did much better in "The Color Purple". Was she trying to advertise the show by her hair? No, then they would have to change the title to "The Color BRIGHT RED"! LOL! Simon's face was priceless when he saw her performance. (See pictures below.)

I think the better performance was Syesha in her singout tonight. She is a classier act and I'm sure will do well on Broadway or wherever. Good Luck to her!

Next week: The winner of AI7 will be David! : )

  • Of course the opening number was meant to showcase the ''boys''. I love how Syesha just continued to strut her stuff. That girl knows she MUST get herself noticed. Fantasia.........what more is there to say other than I hope she makes every bone in Simon's body throb after his pimping of her in season 3. SHE was HIS pick and Nigel's as well. Nice ot see that she still has a 'load' in her pants. Everything was so predictable, wasn't it??? I also predict a David win!!! /sb
  • It sure was predicable from the moment they all came on stage. Actually back to the night before with the judges treatment of Syesha as opposed to the boys. Simon finally got something thrown back in his face. He is constantly reminding everyone how they got it wrong with Taylor Hicks. Now, he can see that he and Nigel aren't perfect either! No way! That picture is priceless! ~ eom. Linda
  • You said it!! /sb
  • The one thing that stood out for me when the 3 were singing together is that I would have put tall David in the middle and not Syesha, just because she's the girl. It just looked all lopsided to me. Also, I'm really surprised Ryan doesn't drag out the David suspense and always runs David A's name together really quickly. Maybe they're saving that trick for the finals...Blinkie

I saw that Syesha got the boot when I got my email earlier tonight. I always forget that yahoo has the results right in my face, and I forgot to turn off the entertainment news. At least, it wasn't some big upset so no harm done. I FF'd through Fantasia. Yikes. She really needs to either let her hair grow or lay off the eye lashes and earrings.

  • Yep, no surprises and the evening went as it was supposed to. As for Fantasia, that year and the things that happened still make me see crimson!!!! Fantasia needs to put a bag over her head and a sock in her mouth. Just think that Nigel and Simon call this ''singing''. HAHAHAAHAAAA!!!!!! Btw, I predict that David will win this year!! /sb
  • Fantasia did well with ballads, and I always thought she had a Billie Holliday vibe. I can certainly do without the shrieking...Blinkie

  • I'm enjoying Simon's look. I'm thrilled!!! Hope Nigel has the same look. They manipulated her to the WIN. /sb
  • she looks soooo awful! Why she thinks that hair cut looks good is beyond me. And that color??? OMG. Why? (shirla)
  • sb--I would have liked to see Nigel's look backstage for a double picture! Obviously, he hadn't seen her performance during rehearsal. I wonder if he would have asked her to change it. Probably not because Nigel knows what works the audience, which this certainly did. That's his main concern. I wonder if Simon will ever want her back on future shows, LOL! ~ eom. Linda
  • I know. Do you think they were giving Nigel oxygen??? (LOL) /sb

LOL at your description of Fantasia.    I didn't care for her at all on her season.   With the exception of a couple of songs she did great on, she made my ears bleed.    I asked Terry's permission to FF her and he gladly agreed.    He was a fan during her season so I thought maybe he'd want to hear the whole thing.    That hair!    WHAT was she thinking?    Oh, I know.    She wasn't!

I personally am very glad the two Davids are in the Final.    Unless something really weird happens, I will be calling in votes for David C next week.    I haven't voted all season, but I think America has been spot on in the voting representing what I would have done.   They have been the last couple of years.    But I really want David C to win so will finally do some callin'.    :-)

Syesha is a very talented girl, but Broadway-headed-people never do as well on Idol.   Look at Jennifer Hudson and Clay Aiken.   OMG I was shocked when she went home!     I guess she showed everyone!    :-)    But this season, I really preferred the two David's over her performance wise and song choice wise for the most part.

  • I don't recall a single Fantasia song that was good at all includking ''Summertime''. She turned it into an overwrought, sappy mess. The outcome was as TPTB planned it to be and have been working on all season. Re; Clay and Jennifer Hudson.........they were sabatoged by Simon and Nigel. Poor Jennifer was subjected to incredibly cruel critiques by Simon that were unjustified. Clay had his songs ''changed'' at the last minute and otherwise sabatoged to make him look like he was incompetent and didn't care. Isn't it just amazing that Jennifer happened to lose to ''The Shreiking Bird'' and Clay lost to Ruben!!!! And so it goes........... /sb

No great surprise but Syesha will do well. I'm still concerned that this could go to David A. - it just CAN'T!!

Other than seeing their hometown greetings this show was filler.

I didn't watch the Fantasia season and BOY am I glad. Her posture is sooooo poor and she walked around like she was wearing a loaded diaper. Simon had one of his famous reactions and I half wish the judges would comment when past contestants come back. I would love to know what words went with Simon's look.

I answered your Nigel question but I'll put it here, too: Interestingly I thought the very same thing. Maybe because he cares more about SYTYCD. He's forever shouting it's praises whenever he can that it gets larger audiences than Idol. He may be EP for both but having his face out there for SYTYCD goes to his head. It's been voted the best of these type shows. You'd think he'd work just as hard at both but apparently not.

  • Can you believe that Fantasia was the 'chosen one' in season 3 and Nigel and Simon got rid of some wonderful talent so this screeching bird with a load in her pants could win??? Jennifer Hudson, LaToya London, and Fantasia were known as the Three Divas. The other divas were trashed by Simon in particular. He was especially nasty to them. I hope no one lets him forget his part in her winning as well as Nigel's. She doesn't even sing..........she shrieks!!! Makes Mariah Carey sound good, doesn't she??? Thanks for the reply to my question. If that's the case, Nigel should be replaced and tend to his baby, SYTYCD. /sb
  • If memory serves Fantasia went up against Ms. Hudson for Dreamgirls - glad to know the casting peeps made the right call.eom/WE
  • Jennifer beat her out for the role in Dreamgirls. That was such a good feeling for many of us. Btw, Simon refused to speak about it for a long time. POOR BABY. /sb
