Topic: Have you signed up for Facebook?

Additional Comments:

I was really sceptical but I signed up anyway just in case old friends were looking for me.  Much to my surprise a long lost cousin contacted me. The last time I saw her I was around four years old and she was in a playpen.  It's been fun catching up. Then last night a girl I used to babysit for sent me a message.  The family attended my church so I have seen the parents over the years but not the girls. She is 39 now with 3 kids.  Am I old or what??  Anyhoo, now I am glad I signed up. It seems to be a lot safer than MySpace.

My stepson talked me into signing up for Facebook a couple of months ago.

I have 64 friends on it now. I have my brother's children on it, there are people we talk to on a regular basis in our town and other friends that have moved away that either tracked me down or I found them again.

What is so cool about it is the 2 old friends I have gotten in contact with that I haven't talked to in years.  I went to the wedding of one of them 2 weekends ago and we are going to their house tonight to visit. My other friend and I have met for coffee a couple of times since getting in touch and we talk each others ear off on the phone on a regular basis. I lost a major part of my life when I lost contact with those 2 girlfriends and it is so wonderful to have them back in my life again.

  • It is a great place for hooking back up with people. I didn't care for Classmates at all and they are way overpriced. I just hope Facebook doesn't start charging....Velvet

I'm on Facebook but I don't have too many friends on there.  I guess nobody is looking for me. I haven't visited too much lately but this post has inspired me to go on there more.

  • I really forgot about it too until 2 people found me. That inspired me to look for some but so far, nada....Velvet

Heck, I just got a Myspace a few months ago (at the insistance of my kids so they could buy and SELL me.  LOL).  Haven't thought to add Facebook.  I do have a LOT of Marine parents on my Myspace now though.  And I "found" my second son who I haven't seen in about 8 years on there.  I cried when I found it.  He was my BABY for a LONG time (and only 3 when my ex took him to live with him in Illinois).  I had talked to the other two of my older kids over the years but kinda lost track of him after he went into the Marines.   Last time I saw him, he was 18.  He's grown up so much since then.

I mostly just play games on there though and share pics.

Thanks to our granddaughters' wanting me to, I got a Facebook page.   I haven't been there in awhile and this post reminded me I should probably check it out.    I have no desire to spend much time there.   I have more than plenty to do online without adding something else to the mix.   I can see where it would be fun though.   I have been to Shirla's and she has everything but the kitchen sink on hers.   :-)

  • I forgot to check in too and then I couldn't remember what email addy I used. I think it is a fairly safe place because most people are only looking for those they know...Velvet

I love it!  I found a couple of my great friends from high school that I haven't talked to in years.  It's been so great re-connecting with them.

  • I would love to find the kids that lived next door to me. I may do a search but it could be difficult since three of them are girls and probably married..Velvet

I like it a lot better than MySpace too. I have both. I rarely go to the MySpace anymore though. I just keep it up because I am trying to find someone - well, I found the person, but they haven't been back on their MySpace since I got on. So, I just check in every so often to see if they have checked my site. I put some pictures up for them to see.

Facebook (when it is working right) RULES!

  • I haven't had any problems with it not working, knock, knock. MySpace seems to attract the younger crowd....Velvet

I have a Facebook account.  (I call it ''facelift'')  The only trouble is I can never remember how to sign in.  I can only get there if Shirla tells me how to do it.  I think she writes on my wall or something.  I haven't been to it in ages!  Lol, guess it's time for Shirla to write something on my wall.

  • I haven't learned to do all the little smilies and things. I guess I should just take time and read the tutorial. I almost hate to because I'm online enough as it is....Velvet

I look at my niece's site once in a while when she puts new pictures up, but I have no interest in signing up myself. I get emails once in a while telling me people are looking for me at Classmates.com, but since I don't pay them I can't get the emails. It's never anyone I want to hear from, anyway. LOL.

  • A lot of people say they won't sign up for that reason. There are people they don't want to find them...Velvet
