Okay, feel free to pass this by if you are oogly discussing your cleavage and the props for them.    I bought THE most comfortable bra I have ever had at Dillard's a few weeks ago.    Yesterday I went and got another one.    I don't wear one unless I am leaving the house, so two of them along with my two sports bras and my too-tight el cheapo Penney's bras will last me for a long time I'm sure.

Wanted to share the brand.  It is Cabernet (sounds more like wine, huh.)     I had never heard of it, but I have been buying this REALLY CHEAP bra made by Penney's for a number of years.

I have grown big busted along with my weight gain over the years and need an underwire for support.   This one has a lot of padding around the wire (some kind of soft stuff) and that coupled with the fact that I had a fitting for one (she got me a size larger around and larger cup size too) makes it soooooo comfy.   :-D   Plus, I'm not hanging all out of it everywhere.

I highly recommend this bra I have and if anyone wants the style of it, email me and I'll share.     I would imagine all of their bras (brars as Charl would say) are pretty nice.    It was $22, which I didn't consider that expensive because I used to pay $27 years ago for another really comfy one.    My $12.99 ones (or was it $9.99) from Penney's have served me well, but it was definitely time for a change.

What brand/style do you wear?    And would you rather do just about ANYthing than try on bras?    I would.

I was just looking at the Cabernet bras online.  Soooo many styles!  I don't know which one you got?

Don't you just love when they show a bra for ''full-figured'' woman but the woman in the picture with the bra on looks like she's a 32 B?

Oh and same thing with ''full-figured'' women's catalogs.  For the most part, the clothes are not modeled by full-figured women so you have absolutely no idea how it will look on you until you order it, get it home and hate it.  Unless I'm really not going to be able to shop in person, I don't order clothes from catalogs anymore for that reason.  I've been getting a ton of catalogs and they go from the mailbox to the recycle bin without me even glancing through them.

  • I went and got it for ya. It is Style No. 8008T. I couldn't find a picture of it. Part of the reason it feels so good is that it FITS! A size larger helped tremendously, but it does have a wrapping around the underwire that is oh-so-comfy for one of those evil things. Gail

I've had several professional fittings. No matter how good a bra looks and feels in the dressing room, 10 minutes after I put it on for real, it starts cutting into me. I do have a Cabernet bra along with some Vanity Fair and Playtex bras. I've been looking for those Bali bras they advertise with the little piece in the front to "hide" things, but I can't find them anywhere.

  • I wore my new Cabernet to Tulsa (translated all-day trip) Monday and never even got uncomfortable. :-) Well, if you can call wearing ANY bra comfy. I don't! I'm usually unfastening mine as I head back to the bedroom when I get home. I haven't seen the Bali one you're talking about. Gail
  • I'll look for the model number you have. I once bought a bra that was fit on me at Dillard's and super comfortable in the dressing room. It literally gave me welts on the tops of my shoulders because they put the seam right there. How stupid was that.. Grrrrrr.....Blink
  • Try it on and see. A man must have designed the other one. Do ya ever wonder WHO designs a lot of women's clothing? For instance, when I visit the women's sizes I'm always amazed at all the horizontal stripes and the spandex. Hello, not flattering for larger peeps! Gail
  • I hate horizontal stripes, as well. My biggest problem is that women's sizes are a little too big and way too long for me, since I'm only 5'1''. However, I need more room in the chest area than they provide in the regular sizes...Blinkie

Just call me ''sucker''!  I will fall for anything.  This (at one time) was supposed to be Oprah's favorite bra.  I bought one.

"With the ENELL bra your breasts are completely secured for minimal bounce. This bra fits much tighter than any other bra your have tried and retains its support even after becoming wet with perspiration. Easy front hook and eye closure. Outer clothing moves freely over the smooth nylon Lycra spandex fabric – no clinging"

I have never worn it.  I can't get it on!  ''Easy front hook and eye closure'' my foot!  I fooled around with the 20 or so hook and eye thingees and still was only half way done up.  I FINALLY got it on.  Remember when you were little and your mom dressed you up in a snowsuit to go out and play in the snow and you felt like you could barely move?  That's the feeling, plus the fact that you can't breathe!  The ''thing'' is in a drawer.

I need underwires but I hate them, despise them, abhor them!  Did you really find one that's comfortable and doesn't dig into you?

I wear Playtex 18 Hour (again - my foot!) bras that have the wide, cushioned straps that are more comfortable.  That is WHEN I wear a bra.  I never wear one around the house.  Guess the neighbors wonder why they never see me.  I don't go out!  LOL

I've tried the sports bras for my size.  ROTF- they push me together so that it looks like I have one gigantic boob front and center.

I have what I call Leisure bras.  These have very little and I mean very little support but if we are sharing a condo or other space with a couple for a week or so, I will wear that with a few select couples that we have known for years.

My sister and I love traveling or being together because we never get dressed or put on a bra unless we are going out.  Our husbands are used to it since sis and I are built exactly alike.  As soon as we get home -  off with the bras and into comfortable clothes.

I've often wondered why someone like Pam Anderson wants to MAKE herself as big as she is.  It hurts!  It hurts your back, the straps dig into your shoulders, it's just downright uncomfortable so why do it to yourself on purpose?

  • Good Lawd in the MORNING! That's not a bra, that's a torture chamber! LOL I have never liked the bras that fasten in the front. Although I can see the day coming when I can't manage to reach around that far. This new bra has four hooks and here I thought THAT was bad. That thing looks so awful. Did you know it had that many hooks when you got it? Call me lazy, but I would never buy that thang. Gail
  • I was going for the ''minimal bounce''. Try no bounce since you can't move! You can hook your bra in the back? Wow! I've never done it that way. Hook it in the front about waist level, swing that thing around and then put your arms through the straps and pull that baby up! So much easier! Oprah's bra was actually funny. There was a lot of bending over, pushing and shoving just to get one hook and eye hooked. I should have sent it back but then I might need that ''minimal bounce'' if I try out for a volleyball team or something. eom mags

For the last several years I've only ever worn Victoria's Secret bras.  After my son was born, I got professionally fitted and found that I had been wearing the wrong size.  Once I lost weight I was fitted again and found that I was wearing at least 2 sizes too big.  Their bras hold up through lots of washing, they don't stretch out and the underwire doesn't poke through.  I wear a bra every day and feel weird without one and I don't have a ton to hold up.

When I workout I wear either a Champion sports bra or a Frog bra.  They're both compression bras and outstanding.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Pardon me while I envision a frog bra. Green.Little legs. Bulging eyes . . ./Ulalume
  • What is a frog bra anyway? I have never even ventured into Victoria's Secret to bra shop since I saw the tiny ones they had on sale one time years ago. I didn't figure they catered to people over a C cup at the time. Maybe I'm wrong? Gail
  • The Frog Bra is just a super tight compression bra. It has like over 30% lycra in it. When I ran track in college, our coach got everyone into them because it was so tight fitting no one had chafing issues if you know what I mean. I've continued to buy them because they hold up to a lot of washing and last forever. Victoria's Secret definitely has tons of sizes. A friend of mine has been a DD since she had kids and she gets all her bras from there.

Let it be known (I think it already is)....I hate wearing a bra! I don't like the "trapped" feeling or having to take the time...what a few seconds?...to put on a bra.

I'm happiest when I don't have to deal with a bra. However, sometimes those babies just need to be bagged and held up...you know, the saggage (love that term, Gail).

I wear a sports bra when gardening....who knew gardening's a sport?? LOL.The sports bra is close to the freedom of no bra. When I go out in public I usually wear "the real thing" but I don't know what brand without looking and I'm not going upstairs to do that. Lately, I've decided it's okay to wear the sports bra when shopping...the grocery, garden center.....

Around the house...I generally wear one of my "hag dresses" and no bra. Because of the style of the HD it's not really too obvious that I'm braless, but the comfort is there. :)

  • I had to buy a couple of sports bras when I had radiation. Although I ended up wearing NO bra as per usual. Anyway, they are as comfy as a bra can get (ugh!) and I wear them too if I'm out in the front yard. If I'm in the back yard with the tall fence, I will go sans bra and hope neither neighbor gets on their deck. They both have above-ground pools and can see into our yard when they're on the decks. I have been caught w/out it by both next door neighbors before and I try and sorta fold my arms there. LOL Gail

I wear sports bras to shop in and work in, NOT at home. I hate bras! I wear my ''good'' bra on Sunday only unless I go somewhere nice. I can't stand the straps falling down off my shoulders. So I have to get the ones that kinda cross in the back, sometimes the straps will show, but I do what I can.

So four sports bras and two ''good'' bras. The end.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Sounds like they're not a huge priority for you either. A necessary evil, but not something I enjoy a bit. I have a lot of old bras I need to pitch! A couple are so pretty, but I'd probably have to lose at least 30 pounds to get in them. I suppose I'm keeping those just in case. Gail
  • I have a problem with slipping straps, as well. I bought something called Under Cover Comfy Straps. They are rubber, sit on your shoulders and fold over your bra straps. Now if I could only find a bra that doesn't cut me...Blinkie

I am a great fan of Olga and Warner's bras. I usually get them at TJ Maxx--they are last season's (but do the boobs know this?) and cost from $7.99-$10.00. I really hate the underwires and sometimes will remove them.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • LOL at the boobs knowing. Nope! And I have looked at T.J. Maxx on several occasions for bras, but they never had the bigger sizes. Shopping was MUCH easier when I could just walk in and get something and know it'd probably fit. Now, it is an ordeal. I have worn a Warner's bra in the far past. Don't think I've ever had an Olga. I only wear Cacique.  I have blue, gray, pink, black, white, maroon and baby blue.  They are the most comfortable.  Once I knew my size and what feels best, I started buying them off eBay for so much less.  I can't stand underwires, so these with the soft (no padding, FedUp) cups are great.

But I think they are only made for big girls.  For big girls' big girls!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • I haven't heard of that brand. I can't wear the big girl things much. I defniitely can on my STOMACH, but the arms and legs and everything else swallow me. I'm in a pickle because I can barely wear misses sizes right now. I hope I lose some this summer. I need to walk a ton and quit eating so much at meal times. JAN preaches portion control to me, but I don't wanna. :-) Gail

I wear Vanity Fair, Maidenform and Victoria's Secret. I wear underwire because they push you up and make you look sexy. Having big ta tas I don't like the padded kind. Everytime I go out shopping I buy at least 2 bras with matching panties. I think I have an addiction because I have three draws full of underwear.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Wow! They have never been something I like to buy. I also hate to wear them! When I was younger and much thinner, I could get by with that much better. :-( Gail

Not a topic I would normally jump into, but I thought I would toss a comment out there for all of you. Years ago my wife was being considered for a new job, and they had her go to some place to take a class in fitting women for new bras. I remember Karen telling me the she learned it is a very high percentage of women who are wearing a bra one size too small for them. She bought one for herself, using her new knowledge of fitting and was thrilled at how much better it felt. Even though it was so much more comfortable, as soon as she gets home and we decide we are not going back out for any reason, off that thing comes. (and like Gail, Karen has the size and saggage that keeps her inside the house if she is not wearing one)

I don't have, um, a lot of work for a bra to do...no heavy lifting (if ya get my drift). I like a few brands like Bali but I'll be on the lookout for this Cabernet. Only problem is I MUST have front loaders...I mean, front clasp and not all styles have it.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Before I gained weight and got bigger boobage, I wore a Bali bra for years. Had forgotten all about it as it was a LONG time ago. One thing I miss about being smaller is being able to go braless when I'm outside in the yard. I don't dare now, between the size and the saggage. ;-) Gail
  • I have trtied front loaders, but the ones with the plastic clip together closures always pop open. Boinnng!/Ulalume
