Topic: Does anyone here do Pilates?

Additional Comments: I used to do pilates about 3 times a week before I got pregnant with my son.  Since I had him, I've had back problems and now I have a herniated disk.  My dr recommended that I start doing pilates again, but to start off slow.  I was wondering if anyone here does it and if you could recommend a DVD.  I used to do Winsor Pilates, but I can't seem to find the DVD's online anywhere.  Thanks in advance!

I found a Windsor Pilates set on an infomercial site.  It might be a newer version??  Try clicking the link:

Windsor Pilates DVDs

Here are 20 options on Ebay:

Ebay Windsor Pilates Options

If you type Windsor Pilates into your search line you should get even more options.  Good luck!  I hope you find what you are looking for.

  • Oh and to answer your question - I recently was looking for palates cd's for a gift (it was requested - not rudeness) and found the best selection at Target and Borders...BUT, if you wanted to buy them online - I would go to Amazon and try to buy resale...you know that there has to be a LOT of people that bought them and gave up on it - Like the exercise equipment bedroom clothes hangers - Weezer
  • Hi Weezer! About 5 years go when I started doing Pilates, my boss had ordered the entire Winsor Pilates DVD set from the infomercial and spent a fortune. She tried it once and gave me the entire set. She decided it was much too hard for her. If she did that, I would imagine you're right on a lot of people giving up on it after investing in the DVD's. Thanks for the birthday wishes too!

I've always wanted to try Pilates...but never thought about a DVD!  Great idea.  I'd rather look like a fool in the privacy of my own home, then look "experienced" in a class! Thanks for posting...can't wait to try a DVD!  ~AngelVine~

  • it really is a wonderful and easy way to exercise. Some are more advanced. My favorite response from 90% of people who do pilates is I feel taller. You really do (lol). eom/WE
  • Believe me AngelVine, some of the poses are not things you want to try for the first time in front of a group of people! I just went online and bought two DVDs. I can't wait to do it again. My back felt fantastic when I did it.

    Happy Belated birthday!

I order workout DVD's quite a bit from Amazon, and I really like the ones by instructor Lara Hudson. The one I do all the time is called 10 Minute Solution Pilates. It has five 10-minute sections (one for Abs, for Buns & Thighs, Sculpting Pilates, Pilates Burn, and Flexibility). It's great for beginners, but she also includes modifications for the more advanced.

It feels so good, and it's a great workout - yet relaxing - all at the same time.

  • Thanks Bunk. One of the DVD's I bought was from the same instructor. I can't wait to start it again.

I think Pilates are great and have a few DVDs.

Here's their site: winsor pilates (fyi, there is sound on this site)

They have all different sales going on. Make sure to differentiate between tape (they still got 'em) and DVD. If it appears to be pricey (even with the sale it can be) you can find tapes or DVDs on ebay.

  • Thanks W.E. I'm going to try a couple of new ones that looked good and if I don't like them, I'll go back to Mari Winsor.
