NEW YORK CITY!

When you think "New York City" what comes to mind?

Your reply should be one word or a phrase.

You need never have been there (oh, but what a pity!), you still have an image come to mind.  Don't you?

Tell us.  Tell us what NYC brings to mind.

The farthest East I've ever been is Cannonsburg, PA, if you can believe it. :( I would love to see NY city before I die. It's just beautiful and I love to see shows, so Broadway would be my first stop. We should plan a Board-Meet there someday. :)

I was born and raised in Manhattan. What I feel most of all about my native city is:

PRIDE

Warm caring people

Never being bored because NYC has the best of everything.

The best and easiest city to go walking in. So much to look at.

Never feeling lost where ever you go because you're from the BIG city and know how to get around in it.

Best high schools, universities, entertainment, churches, shopping, sports teams, Central Park is a nature lovers dream come true, best food of all nationalities, a melting pot of all races and nationalities.

Don't believe the bad rep that people in NYC get from outsiders. New Yorkers on a whole are some of the nicest helpful people you'll ever meet. Except for Donald Trump. He's ruining the city with his grotesque high rise apartment buildings that block the older buildings view of the Hudson River.

  • And you have every right to be filled with PRIDE. It's a great place. I can't imagine why experiencing NYC is not a MUST on everyone's list. eom/Jenny

I'm so lucky because I drive to a train station 15 minutes away and I'm a 40 minute train ride from Penn Station.  We go to the city fairly often.  Can't wait to go back.

  • Definitely envy you! I would love to be there now, with lotsa $$$. Not necessary for visiting, there's a ton of free stuff to do, but living there, I'd want to be blessed with bucks! eom/Jenny

CENTRAL PARK - grass and trees. LOL
would love to have seen more..

I was there only for ONE day and one night. Wanted to go to Broadway but couldn't afford to. Outrages prices. If they want to keep the Arts going, why in the world don't they make it affordable???

  • You definitely deserve a longer trip. If the hotel rooms weren't so expensive, I'd be there more often. eom/Jenny

    Unappealing.

I guess I'm the opposite side of the coin.  I don't like cities so it's not just New York.  I hated L.A. too and I don't like D.C., Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, Jacksonville either.  I'll take a route around any major city anytime.  The picture above is pretty though.

  • Aren't you the poster (LOL!) that doesn't like Meryl Streep? I sense a pattern here, if so. In any case, it's ok if NYC doesn't appeal to you. We need a few good people to stay home and keep the sidewalks clear. eom/Jenny
  • Lol, yes I'm the one that doesn't like Meryl Streep too. Or Alec Baldwin or Steve Martin so imagine my surprise when I found out the movie I agreed to go see on a ladies night out recently was ''It's Complicated''. I didn't know anything about the movie until we all got to the theatre. Dinner afterwards was delcious! You won't find me in the cities very often but we do like traveling around the states and Canada too ... the back roads, off the interstates with cabins, cottages and lodges. eom mags
  • Whoa, what a co-inky-dink. That had to be nerve-wracking for you. LOL, I guess you weathered thru, tho. eom/Jenny

When I think of New York, I think of HUGE. From the pictures I have seen, it is a gigantic city, especially compared to my little town that has an uptown all on Main street which is 3 blocks long. For many years there were only three traffic lights, but then they added a fourth. Karen and I would love to visit New York some day.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Oh, yeah. I bet 5th avenue has more foot traffic than your elementary school has kids! It's a bustling place, Rusty. You'd like it, but YOU wouldn't want to live there. eom/Jenny
