I took the blank $500 check to the bank on my lunch break. I'm sorry now that I didn't go before work, but I was running late. Thankfully, there was already a STOP payment on the check, but I still worry about things like that. What if the teller was in a hurry, etc?
Anyway, the assistant manager thanked me profusely and kept telling me how sweet and honest I was. I thought she and the two other gals were going to burst into tears. The AM said, 'You know you could have cashed this check and there's nothing the bank could do about it?' Yes, I know, but it's not my money and some kids might be going hungry, etc., if I kept it. They were really impressed that I took my time to come to the bank and get this wrapped up. I couldn't do anything else, it would have haunted me forever!
I insisted that she void the check and she had a CANCELLED stamp that she stamped all over it. I told her I would just feel better about it, since I didn't know the process the check would be going thru once I left. She understood completely. I didn't want to insult them, but, hey, someone along the chain could have decided to make today their last work day!
Anyway, it's done and I feel SO much better. The bank is going to call him and tell him that the check has been found.

Jenny, you are a beautiful person, inside and out.

Yea! I think most people are honest and would do the right thing. Unfortunately, it is the dishonest people that make the news, etc. I wish that wasn't so!
I took a six pack of Bounty back to WalMart a few years ago because it was under the cart and didn't get rung up. They acted like I was from another planet. LOL
