What's it doing where YOU are?

It finally warmed up yesterday, but was so windy you couldn't enjoy it.    We went to a city yesterday afternoon for a while and the wind almost blew me across the parking lots.   :-(    But I'm in KS.

It is supposed to get up to 80° today and 70° tomorrow.    We could be planting flowers and plan to get some perennials here in town at the nursery.   But we will go to Tulsa (or somewhere) to Lowe's later for hanging baskets.

We've had nice spring-like temps lately. However, today was very windy. I was outside a lot today and the wind nearly wiped me out...I am so tired. Rain tomorrow, then clearing for the weekend.

  • We're already getting the rain. Being in the greenhouses this afternoon kilt me. I was sooooo hot by the time we got finished I was too miserable to cook when we got home. I waited about an hour and a half. We sure got a lot of pretty flowers though. :-) Gail

It's been in the 70s today. I have doors and windows open to take in the wonderful fresh air. We are supposed to possibly have a thunderstorm tonight and it is getting cloudy out.

I also keep going to the balcony to check on the pool area. We once again have a birth approaching as a Mother Goose is nesting there and hatching time is getting near.

  • Awwwwww, I hope you get to see the baby geese. I love baby ducks! Nothing much cuter. They might even edge out kittens. Nah. We have had our windows open some, but the AC on some too. Like right now. Gail

Temperatures have been nice the last 2 days or so but very windy. We're supposed to get rain tomorrow and then sunny and high 60's for the weekend. I sure hope it turns out that way as we're having Grayson's birthday party Sunday afternoon in our backyard.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • I have been bad-mouthing KS because of the wind, but I guess it's bad more than here. Hope you can have a nice party for Grayson, the little sweetie! Haven't even mailed your prize yet. Haven't even GOT it yet. I do know what I want though. That's progress. Gail

Our high's for the next 5 days are only in the 50's. Low's in the 30's, so no planting here. There is another chance for snow on Saturday.
The family and I are flying to Sarasota on Saturday and I can't wait to soak these cold winter bones in some warm sunshine!! :) See you when we get back!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • That's awful! I am so glad you all can get out of there and go to Sarasota! Lucky dogs! Do some shopping for me St. Armand's Circle and go look at the pretty water at Longboat Key or Anna Maria Island. I am a little green with envy. Gail
  • He he! I love your green green! Fly down and meet me there!! I love shopping St. Armand's Circle (and eating there) but we're going with another couple and have 6 kids under the age of 6, so not a lot of eating out for us! We usually try to hit Sharky's in Venice once while we're there. And I love the white sand on Siesta Key, so we may venture there (we stay just south on Casey Key). I can't wait! have fun with your planting this week. See you when we get back.

It's well on it's way to 78 here today, and very windy. The rains are supposed to roll in tomorrow, because of all the proms around here this weekend.

It's nice out there. I should be out on the patio. We have our patio pots all planted, but still need a few hanging baskets. The iris are starting to bloom. I love iris!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • The Iris are blooming here too. Luckily, one of our next door neighbors has some out front for me to enjoy. :-) It poured down rain for about half a minute here while ago. We may get more. They said 70% chance of it tonight. Gail

It's sort of cloudy but I think warmer today....in the 70's.

Tuesday it rained in the morning and then the wind blew hard.  This is because I got my hair done that day and went shopping while Tom was at work.  It happens every single time I get my hair done.

We went to Michael's and got artificial (silk not plastic) flowers for his baskets and pots on the back porch.  He doesn't want to fool with watering the live ones this year.  Last year they all pretty much died off.  From a distance, no one can tell the difference.  Lol, he even got a lot of compliments from people who had either walked by or drove by on how nice his porch looked.  He added a deck with those pergola things.  Who else did that???  Was it Doopy or Tori?  I think it was Tori.  I miss my mind!  I should post a few pictures of what his porch looked like last year.

Sunday morning they are calling for showers and Sunday afternoon we are supposed to play in a mixed group .... just 9 holes of golf and then dinner.  It sounds like fun.  I won't be playing when it gets hot and humid so I'd better get in some practice now while I can during the cooler temperatures. Have you and Terry played yet?

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • It was Doopy who got a new pergola. Well, unless Tori got one too. No, we haven't played golf yet. It is WAY too windy. Also, we have way too much going on. I decided to have a garage sale, we are doing more landscaping and just the regular flowers AND we are planning to go to the Rockies (YEA!) later this month. Gail

After a few weeks of glorious weather (even when it rained) the temps have dropped. No wonder folks are getting sick. I can't wait until Saturday when I'll be in the 80 degree temps in Vegas.

  • The wind finally died down here, and the temps are perfect! Enjoy...Blinkie
  • Maybe you're getting the cool spell we had a couple of days ago. I am typing at 11:00 p.m. and it is 70°. I was SO hot today in the greenhouses we were in this afternoon I could hardly stand it. And yes, I complained. :-P Gail (who would appreciate year round 70° poifect weather please.)
