Additional Comments: I'm not crazy about these characters.  Destiny I can forgive for being a bit immature.  Shaun is a grown man but he acts like he has no social skills.  I love the guy but I think he is lacking when it comes to understanding people and how to interact with the opposite sex.    I don't recall Rachel giving him any reason to get all excited about being with him.  This entire story is terrible.  I want to see something more.   I like the family, I'd like to see more of them.   Love the Dad,  love how he deals with his wife and his children,  didn't like Mom so much.   She seems to have favorites.  As a mom I don't like it but I've seen that happen.  TPTB need to consider moving the family to Llanview and then add RJ to the mix.

In RL there are many people just like Shaun. Men & woman both. The book "he's just not that into you" would never have been so popular if there weren't. Has nothing to do with social skills. I think he interacts very well with others. Maybe if Rachel had been honest before the surgery he would never have let his feelings get to where they are, maybe not, but he wouldn't be the 1st person to go through this. I think the Evan's family are being written like good old fashioned down to earth soap family.

I hear you about Shaun and Destiny. They're two of a kind. Both refuse to pick up on the obvious social cues that the object of their affection doesn't feel the same way about them leaving the other person no choice but to hurt their feelings by telling them flat out that it just ain't happening. I do like Shaun and think he's actually right that Greg will leave Rachel in the dust for the next pretty face but that still won't make Rachel feel something for Shaun that she doesn't feel. I know we're supposed to fell sympathy for Shaun and Destiny getting their hearts broken but I really can't when their relationships were always totally one-sided from the start.

  • I can forgive Destiny because she is a young teenage girl, just discovering love and friendship. She has an innocence about her that goes with her age. Shaun is another story. He is a grown man, we have never been given any indication that he has social issues up until Rachel showed up. Now he acts like a 17 year old boy who is going on his first date with the woman of his dreams. I just don't get it. I like him, but they need to write better for this character. OLTL finally has a Black American family on the show and they need to do more. Personally I would have preferred that they bring back the Gannon brothers, or bring them back and keep Destiny and her brothers. It would make the show more complex and interesting. izi
  • Shaun and Destiny are both aware that they have stronger feelings than the objects of their desires. Shaun said as much when he told Rachel he was going to sweep her off her feet. It was the whole point of his plan -- to encourange her to have more romantic feelings towards him. And I'm sure Destiny knows that Matthew sees her only as a friend. She's not happy about it (he took off with another girl), but she knows. I don't think either of them are missing any social cues. I think they just feel what they feel. Knowing someone doesn't love you doesn't automatically make you stop loving them. //SqueezeMe

izi...i like shaun alot, but have to agree that his social skills do seem somewhat devlopmentally-challenged for his age.

On the other hand, Greg often comes off too smooth and sleazy for my taste.

I like the parents, both, alot also.

I go back and forth on destiny...its sad to say, but they probably do need to recast...im not trying to pile on a child, but this kid just can not act. I actually feel kinda bad for her in certain scenes sometimes.

I love the characters and love their relationship. I really hope the rumors aren't true that they're going to recast Destiny. These two actors have so much chemistry as older brother and little sister.

  • I hope they don't recast her either. I think she needs a bit more coaching in her acting skills but I like her. izi

I like both characters, and I don't see Shaun as someone with no social skills at all.  He has beautiful manners, and a warm heart.

Before he was shot, Shaun went to Rachel and told her of his plans to pull out all the stops and sweep her off her feet.  She didn't tell him not to bother.  Instead, she smiled and told him to go for it (basically).  She already had feelings for Greg at that point, so she should have discouraged Shaun.  Instead, she led him on.

  • ITA, it may have been casual and just starting, but Shaun was under the impression that they were dating. And Rachel had to have known how Shaun felt about her, even if she didn't feel the same way. There's an attitude today that people don't really have to explain themselves and the other person should automatically understand how the other person feels without being told. Whatever happened to common courtesy, honesty, considersation? Shaun was okay when Rachel ended things, but he was justifiably upset when he found out she lied about his brother's part in the situation. Telling Shaun the whole truth would probably have made him really upset for a while, but it would have been better than being blind-sided seeing Rachel and Greg kiss just the next day after she broke up with him. eom

I like Shawn. He's a nice guy. I would love to see him with somebody. I guess he just had his heart set on Rachel. He probably hasn't been with anyone in a long time. I hope he finds someone. That would make for some good soap entertainment. He would be so cute in a relationship.

I like this family, I really do. They seem so real. I like Destiny. She just tells it like it is. She never overacts, she's like a real everyday kind of person. None of this profound insight that we often see in young people. She doesn't talk like she's reading a sappy Hallmark card.

Why the heck can't I think of Shawn's brother's name? I would like to see where his relationship with Rachel goes.

Love the mom and dad would love to see more of them. No unneccesary drama like relatives coming back from the dead to torment them or split personalities. Just like a real family. They got their dramas but nothing over the top.
