FIRST - I have to say that yesterday's scenes with Kish completely made up for some of the hocume we've had to endure - the preachiness - the stupidity of the Big Gay Wedding - bi-curious Shane (I swear, Roxy didn't succeed in making Rex completely gay, she will with the boy) - Nick the bad acting, non-blinking third gay man on OLTL - all totally worth it to get to those scenes on the roof.
All of that excessive stuff was annoying distraction from what had become a pretty strong story they had been building for awhile - one that seemed to hit a home run and its peak when Oliver came out to his folks.
In the end the show delivered a really well done "conclusion" (its a soap, so it can't be over, of course) that ultimately got back to being character driven. As I did with the Powell Lord storyline, I will put up with a lot of BS as long as there is a decent payoff, and I felt I got it yesterday (more than even the big moment at the wedding on Monday). They were written, and it played out, just two more characters in love who finally are admitting it and figuring out what to do next - like Bo and Nora, even.
Ok...now that that is out of the way...
I have plenty of gay and lesbian friends, and as such have become comfortable joking around with them, so if this is over the line for anyone I apologize - I just want to pose the question (completely for humor's sake), but one I'm sure more than a few people have thought (no matter where they stand on the issue and storyline)...ok...here it goes...
Between Kyle and Fish - whose the "top" and whose the "bottom"?
:)
Oh, COME ON! I know at sometime you wondered the same thing! You might have said, "I wonder who the man or woman is," and some viewers might have gone further to even imaging "it." Completely understandable - with the other characters, little is left to the imagination. When Todd dives under the covers head first and Tea screams a "coo" we know what's happening. Hell, I would wager a guess that the haters are more obsessed with what specifically goes on between Kish in the sack than the rest.
Anyway...my guess is Fish is totally the top - seems in keeping with his midwestern, coplike upbringing. Also the fact that he (drunkenly) was able to sow the seed for Auntie Whorebag. Now, I know what you are saying - Kyle seems the more together, in control one - but as I have been told, "the bottom always chooses the top." And if that's the case, then I would hasten a guess that if the characters/writers were forced to label them - well...yeah, that's where I think it would go. So to speak.
I doubt we'll get any sort of pillow biting scene to confirm one thing or the next, but I suspect at some point in the next year there might be some sort of signal or code RC and company throw out there.
ALL JOKING ASIDE - I think the actor who plays Kyle is one of the best the show has right now - the characters of Fish and Kyle are terrific and have great potential - and I hope that their "gay" storyline is entering the relationship phase, that OLTL (a) doesn't beat us over the head with it but (b) doesn't brush them aside, which would be easy to do. I mean - let's face it - the two are REALLY supporting characters on the show; both have jobs on the show which put them in a lot of other people's storylines (cop and doctor) and neither is connected to any of he core families (well, until Fish learns that he's going to be a father to Shane's cousin and Gigi's nephew or niece) - so, they could EASILY slip into the Michael and Marcy roles.
(Hmmmm...but which one is Michael and which one is Marcy...?"
;)
