Soaps have changed a lot over the past few years and I couldn't help but wonder if they've changed too much.
If you look at the older clips on Youtube, the production values are different (camera and sets are better in some cases now than before)
However there was some camp and humor which now appears to be sorely lacking. OLTL told some good stories but they didn't always take themselves so seriously.
Yes, there were some powerful stories back then and in general there should be some good drama, couples, and stories but today's soaps (not just OLTL) seem to have too much drama. As the late Heath Ledger said in character while playing the Joker - "Why so serious?"
I don' t think this is the only change to have a negative impact however I am curious to everyone's thoughts on this.
Ron Carlivati has done a good job cleaning things up and I have enjoyed some of the humor he has put back in the show (although I wouldn't be surprised if some of it was ad-libbed by the actors)
The scenes with David telling his story were well done (along with his facial expressions when he saw Jared and Natalie)
Kudos to John-Paul Lavoisier for "drunk Rex". I enjoyed the scenes with Bo and thought it was funny when Rex stumbled, hugged and kissed the pole in the loft.
In previous years, Tina had some good scenes and the marriage of Carlo and Alex usually provided good entertainment. Even the wedding of Alex and Asa (Egyptian style) and Nikki Smith (sometimes) provided some as well.
I wouldn't mind seeing more scenes with some humor. OLTL recently only seemed to do scenes like that only if Tuc was around. Hopefully they will continue to do some fun scenes even if he chooses to leave.

I don't want to see all drama, all comedy. I want to see a nice balance.
