I know I asked for information on Kyle's parents already, but I just read that when Kyle's sister Rebecca was introduced, she said that she grew up going from one foster home to another. What I remember is that she called her mother to announce her engagement to Powell. Does anyone here remember any of it? It seems inconsistent with Oliver saying that Kyle's parents were loving and supportive. Kyle told Roxy that he didn't have a lot of family left since Rebecca died - does he even have living parents that might turn up someday?

What would you think of a story like this? Kyle has a family secret, and when Oliver tries to find out what it is, he gradually discovers something horrible, such as that Kyle's mother just got paroled after 25 years in prison for killing his father after a marital rape. Kyle grew up in foster homes like Rebecca, and never had anyone to whom to come out before Oliver. (The cult that Rebecca joined believed in the healing power of prayer, right? He probably wouldn't have come out to her.) Then Oliver realizes that the story about Kyle's parents encouraging him to come out was entirely made up by Kyle because he wanted Oliver to have hope.

I wasn't watching back when Rebecca made her first appearance on the show. It seems to me that the writers swept the past of the characters under the rug, and have come up with a new family history for Kyle, and they're hoping we won't go investigating old episodes. I hate when they do that, I like my storylines to be consistent.
