Additional Comments: What's this show about?  It's on speed.  And not good speed!  lol.  There are about 54 different storylines going on in 1 episode.  SLOW down people.  Tell a story.

I pretty much agree with Gallager.  I am enjoying most of the show and am not overly trouble by the SLs that I don't like because there are enough other things going on to keep me going.  I don't like the Jared/Nash/stalker/Jess tormented/Natalie crusading/ drugged Brody/  Rex's daddy/ ??Daddy/ John (although he bothers me the least in this storyline) largely because it's not well written, but oh well.  (Darn, it sure involves just about everyone, though esp. when you consider Marty, Vikki, Charlie, Bo, Clint, oh too much typing!)

I hate the Rachel/Greg thing, but up to this point it was worth it all to hear Shaun tell them off, especially when he told Rachel she wasn't trying to avoid hurting him, only herself.  Nicely said.

I actually disagree. I was thinking yesterday that I enjoy the multiple stories happening. Currently, if there is a story I'm not enjoying I don't worry because often times I will find more than a couple of other things in the episode to hold my attention. I'm really, really digging it, actually.
Last year the show was ONLY about the baby switch and the ripple effect from that leading to the show being only about Auntie Whorebag OR the KAD Killer.

To contrast it, go to AMC and see how having only one story and one set of characters help kill a show. It's unwatchable.

  • Exactly. I hate Stacy and Kim at any time, but can look forward to the next sequence where it's Nora and Bo. I've longed for them to get together again for years! I do want to see Ross with Blaire again--hope they haven't overlooked that chem, and I dona't even mind the goofy stalker story--even felt suspense waiting for John to hear Brody in the next room. I guess i enjoy Roxy's friendship with Kyle more than I do Kyle's waffling love life, though I like Fish. Not interested in Layla and Chris at all. Merely tolerate the young set, Starr and Co. Wish Tea had a better love interest than dreadful Todd, but I like her quest for her daughter. No, there really is a lot to watch and enjoy even if some stories seem lame. GHFan

ICAM!  They've been off course for a very long time--way too long, IMO.  They've lost their way w/every aspect of what made soaps great, at one time.  Storytelling, chemistry, character driven stories, romance (not this bunny-humping stuff that lacks everything but the mechanics!), honoring history of the show & the characters...the list goes on & on.  They've sacrificed everything good about soaps & made them unwatchable--not just OLTL, but all soaps, for no good reason.  Characters travel in their own, isolated spheres which isn't good for any aspect of the show & contributes a great deal to the unwatchability.

Soaps don't HAVE to be this way.  There are great storytellers out there who know & appreciate soaps as a genre, as well as the audience--the WHOLE audience.  There are those who have  a real affinity for the genre & who do wonders on their own, but they aren't around, for the most part, & those who are have had to suck things up for so long that they are out of practice in giving it their best.  Besides, that isn't what has been asked of them.

I am in complete agreement. They really are trying to tell too many stories at once and when they do that they get sloppy! They are in at least four different towns now, spread across the country, and in London, and it looks like they may be about to add a fifth if Matthew and Dani make it to Seattle. It is too much. They need to take some time to wrap up a couple of stories instead of launching into more.
