No, Clint was an intelligent newspaperman when he came on the show. The writers lost sight of who the character was--past and present.

I can't believe the director didn't just tell her to drop the accent... or at least pull back on it a bit.

I don't know what's going on with the directing team lately. They seem to be allowing the actors to go way too over the top. There must be an epidemic of toothaches among the cast with all of the scenery chewing that's been going on.
