Topic: Tea baby story -- not digging it

Additional Comments:

Many here have pointed out that Tea's secret means that in a few short years, Llanview will be solely populated by Manning spawn, but what really irks me is that the storyline makes Tea look pretty bad -- and since she's a favorite of mine, I resent that.

The way it looks now, she appears to have lied to Ross about being the kid's dad and then made the decision to cut off all contact between parent and child because she's getting back together with Todd. That not only seems cruel -- it makes no sense. Did she intitally think Ross was the dad only to find out later that Todd is the father? I can understand her not wanting to expose her kid to Todd, but she's never expressed that. As it stands now, Tea's motivations are completely perplexing. If she wants Ross to back off, then tell him he's not the bio-dad (though if he raised the kid, that bond is still real). She's made several references to Ross not being much of a dad -- what does that mean? RC needs to do some skillful writing to pull this together in a way that makes sense and doesn't throw Tea under the bus. I'm not sure he can do it.

Is that spoiler true about twins? That's a lot of Mannings! Tea, Ross, etc., have never referred to having multiple children, and after today's episode it looks like their is only one child in question.

That reminds me; ABC Soaps Magazine had an article last week that said the show was going to mess with our minds and make us wonder which boarding school kid was Todd and Tea's. Now, when I read that, I thought it would be for several months, not one episode. I'm surprised they revealed their daughter so quickly, the writers usually like to mess with our minds.

I wonder how Jack will take the news that Naked Lady had a child with his Father?

This scenario played out in my mind after the end of today's episode.

Tea: Bye honey, love you. (hangs up phone, starts blubbering) I haven't seen my daughter in so long! (Excessive sobbing).

Jack: (He's been spying on her, the little weasel, he runs downstairs) What's up Naked Lady? You have a daughter? Is she as hot as you?

Tea: She's your sister you little FREAK!!!!!!!!!!

Jack: Dude!

Tea: Oops.

Jack: DAD! DAD! You will not believe this!

Todd: What's going on out here?

Jack: (Big grin) She can tell you.

Todd:(He's gonna flip out) Tell me what?

Tea: I-I-I just saved 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico. Boohoohoohoohoo...

Todd: Damn, that's a good deal. (He pulls out his cellphone). Yeah, hey, listen, I need to switch my insurance... (exit scene).

Jack: That was NOT cool, Naked Lady.

Tea: One more crack out of you, and I'll smuggle you away to an English Boarding School, just like I did with your half-sister...d'oh!!!!!!

Stay tuned for scenes from the next OLTL.

Rhonda, what perplexes me most about this storyline is the SORAS'ed version of Tea and Todd's love child.  If indeed this Thomas kid is Tea's son, there is something very off about the time line. Matthew who was born before this child of Tea seems younger.

Ross, who was hired to kidnap both Star and Jack, hooked up with Tea on the island shortly thereafter.  Todd also hooked up with Tea on the island.  Ok, so we don't know for sure who the father is just yet. What we do know is that Jack was alive back then and he was a little kid.

However, Thomas appears to be 16 or 17.  This couldnt possibly be.  If Thomas is 16, then why hasn't Jack been soras'ed to about 18?  Why hasn't Starr been aged to about 20 as well?  Think about it.  Tea and Todd's stranded island rendez vous occurred after Ross's failed attempt to kidnap both Star and Jack.  Ross and Blair have both stated this as happening with "Blair's kids".  So how in the world could Thomas be older than Jack?

Jack was at least 2 years old when the failed kidnapping attempt occured in Hawaii.  I have a vague recollection of this storyline.  The ages aren't adding up.  TPTB have dropped a bomb upon as again.  Unless they rewrite this story to say Tea had this child right after she first broke up with Todd, none of it is plausible, not even in soap world.  Of course, Ross didn't meet Tea until he came to Llannview to help Todd in his plan to steal the "kids" away from Blair. Tea has stated she's been away from LLanview and Todd for about 6 years. How could Thomas already be a teenager?

Yet again, it appears the writers haven't done their research. Aren't there any fact checkers on OLTL payroll? Geez, this storyline (drivel so far) has more holes than swiss cheese.

I would prefer this Tea & Todd secret child reveal to be dropped. Blair has never been portrayed as being this dreadful and b*tchy evr.  Kassie Depaiva is a great actress but the hate and scheming from Blair is ridiculously over the top. Maybe Tea hook up with Antonio and leave Llanview. We all know Blair wants Todd back and will stop at nothing to accomplish this task.

I think Tea "knew" she was pregnant by Todd immediately after Ocean Sex.  Then she duped Ross into sleeping with her so she could let everyone think the child was his.  I think she's afraid of Todd and his instability and perhaps she even felt abandoned after Todd left her on the island and Tea resolved in some sick way to punish him.  She's probably more damaged than he is.  In the TnT world of tortured secrets and lies, Tea's behavior makes sense.  And Ross surely sees what's going on but has made some kind of bargain with Tea.

Oh, the drama!  But it sucks that the kid or kids is(are) SORASed.  I think Ross should be the father, for all our sakes.

I don't understand Tea's motivations either.  This story is just a confusing mess right now, and I agree that no matter what she will look bad.  But I didn't get the feeling that Tea was trying to get Ross away from her child ONLY because of Todd.  It feels like she got the kid away even before she arrived in Llanview.  What happened to make her decide Ross was not good enough to be a father, we don't know yet.

But the worst scenerio would be if she let Ross think if it was his child and now that she has found Todd again she is keeping him away from the kid.

Warning, spoiler talk ahead...

I've read on the board that Tea supposedly had twins.  I've been thinking for some time that if she indeed had twins, those twins have different fathers.  So, Ross is right when he says he's the bio-father and he's not the bio-father.

However, having said that, I don't like the Tea baby story either.  I've been threatening for some time to call Todd OLTL's version of the Sonny Sperminator of GH.  I don't see why Tea has to have a child by Todd.  To make a fan base happy?  Doesn't make this Tea fan happy at all.  Puts her on a equal footing with Blair?  Oh, please.  Tea should be loved for who she is, not for what her womb produces.  It's obvious that this story was concocted after TPTB and FL came to terms about her staying long term.  I usually don't have a problem with that because that's just the nature of soaps, but this is just a Blair and Todd story with Tea inserted into the Blair role.  Couldn't the writers have come up with something more original?

  • I don't like the idea of ONE kid, but I absolutely hate the idea of twins. TPTB can't come up with anything better, so it is a retread of Todd and Blair. ladfan
  • I've heard the twins talk too, but Ross keeps saying ''my child'' not ''my kids'' -- it's just too confusing and I'm skeptical RC can write his way out of the mess he's created here ~ Rhonda
  • One overly-SORASed kid is too many. Two would be an abomination. //SqueezeMe
  • Well, Ross would say ''my kid'' if he knew for certain one of the twins was his and the other was Todd's. However, I agree with SM. One overly SORAS'd kid is too much, two an abomination, and may I add that another child for Todd is worse than an abomination. Wanda

I believe Ross has known all alone that he is not the baby's father.  He said as much the other day to that lawyer guy.  Earlier in the week, I thought I heard him say he had the DNA to prove he was the father.  But then a couple days later, he was seen telling someone that he was not the father.

At this point, I'm not even sure WHO the child's father is. I thought Todd, but after Tea's conversation with Ross yesterday, I don't know. It does need to be untangled.
