PETE O'NEILL?
In light of the shocking murder of Pamela Oliver, one question comes to my mind:
Does anyone know the story behind Pamela's returns to Llanview without Pete in the last decade?
The last I heard or saw, Pete and Pamela returned in 1988 to attend Didi Buchanan's (Pete's niece) funeral. Apparently, he and Pamela went off to the island of Malakeva and got married to each other.
Did Pete die like the rest of the O'Neill family (Didi died by electrocution, Harry was shot by Mitch, Connie died of heart failure, and Joy died in a car accident), or did he and Pamela get divorced? I don't think that was ever explained when Pamela returned for Asa'a second fake funeral in 2001.
I remember reading in this group years ago that Joy and Connie O'Neill died offscreen. I heard nothing about Pete, hence the question I posed.
Maybe what I read was untrue, but someone on this board stated once (don't remember who) that Connie had a medical condition that she died from and Joy, in her grief over the deaths of all of her family members, wasn't watching what she was doing and drove her car off the road, resulting in her death.
Maybe that was just someone's whacked version of a joke or they were envisioning what would happen if he/she were writing the show. The show was pretty bad under the Phelps/McTavish regime -- I don't remember one good thing that came out of it.
When & how did they explain Connie & Joy's deaths? Who came back to town to reveal what happened to them? Was it Brad Vernon for Connie & Mitch for Joy? I don't remember. Thanks. (The Buchanans are the worst thing that ever happened to the O'Neils! The whole family--decimated! Almost like the Gordons!)
