Additional Comments: How was everyones holiday?  Thanksgiving was great.  We trimmed it down to individual families this year.  Had 13 at my house instead of 50 or so at  my sisters.  I was one of the crazy ones who went out on Black Friday.  The longest line was at Staples.  My keyboard crashed and I had to get a new one.  Then I got a call an old friend died.  She was only 52.  I don't understand it.  She smoked 3 packs a day for over 30 years.  The last two years she has had lots of lung problems.  She would use her inhaler and smoke at the same time.  Her family and grandkids begged her to quit smoking.  She stubbornly refused.  Her lungs filled up with fluid and she basically drowned.  So sad.  I've got the funeral today.  And so it goes.....

So sorry to hear about your friend!  That's very sad...I guess we just never can understand others and we can just pray for them.  Now she's just at rest.

Our Thanksgiving was 95% drama free, so all is right in my world!  My MIL kept disappearing...she was here 5 minutes and decided to take a walk to the lake..then she came back, played with the kids for 5 minutes, and left in the car but didn't tell anyone.  So we were all worried, and then she comes back an hour later and acts like nothing weird happened.  If I live to be 100, I'll never figure the woman out!

And my Emily is doing much better!  She had a disturbing "awakening" about 2 weeks ago...she actually saw up close what her eyebrows look like, and she didn't like it one little bit.  So she's been trying super hard, and she's got a lot growing in, and her eyelashes too.  She's hoping to look "normal" by Christmas, and she's trying so, so hard.  I'm very proud of her!!  Her therapist thinks that it's something she can totally grow out of, especially onces she's older and more mature enough to handle stress in an adult way.  I feel better than I have in ages!

I'm so sorry Stella. How awful about your friend.

Ours was really really nice...although I've been really really sick (just a bad virus).

Wednesday night I rushed off to the grocery store to get my last minute items and picked up a bottle of wine at the state store.  Then it was off to the salon to get a quick haircut (long overdue).  Back home to watch hockey and bake pies!

Thursday we watched the parade (and later hockey re-runs) while Tom and I took turns in the kitchen. He cut veggies and helped me get the turkey stuffed, and I started on my stock, cranberries and stuffing. In the afternoon as everything cooked, we went outside. Tom hung Christmas lights, while Andrew and I tossed around a football and went for a walk. It was so nice to come home to a warm house filled with good smells! We had a fabulous dinner together and then watched Home Alone.

If I hadn't been up sick later that night, we would've gone out shopping Friday, but as it was, we chose to sleep in which was much needed. We did go out later that afternoon to a few places, and while I shopped, I convinced my husband to go to the doctor for his lingering cough. I'm glad I did - he's almost completely better.

Friday night we went to a town light-up night. They had trolley, horse-drawn carriage, and sleigh rides around the town, with carolers, bonfires, and Santa visiting with all the kids. They passed out chocolate donuts with sprinkles and hot cocoa to everyone. Andrew was fine until Santa's elf went to lift him up to put him on Santa's lap...then the crying started! He was so upset about the elf, he lost his train of thought and didn't ask for anything. Santa asked him if he wanted some cars and Andrew just nodded through tears and said, "yeah."  When I asked him what he said to Santa, Andrew said, "Nothing. I cried!"  Poor baby. All that rehearsing for nothing!

Saturday we drove to Akron, OH to visit my brother and his family. They made us a delicious dinner and kept Andrew entertained all afternoon with pillow fights and cartoons.

Sunday we hit a few more sales. I had a Bed, Bath & Beyond gift card to use, and with a $10 off coupon, I got my lighted garlands for $6!

I'm off today again and just taking things easy and relaxing. It's a cold snowy day - perfect for the cyber Monday sales!

  • Except for the sickness part, sounds like you had an idyllic Thanksgiving! And hey, Akron is my old stomping grounds, that's where I went to college! I live about an hour and 20 minutes from there. :) Sandigal
