I was wandering through the mall and the music overhead was Chad & Jeremy's "Summer Song"...."They say that all good things must end some day, autumn leaves must fall--- but don't you know that it hurts me so, to say good bye to youuuuuuuuuuuuuu, wish ya didn't have to go, no no no noooooh!" I must have played that record over and over a million times when I broke up with a college boyfriend. Another song that gets to me is "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Crofts. The beginning of that just makes me feel sad. (hey! It was the same boy!) and also "Red Rubber Ball" (I've got my life to live, and I don't need you at all!!!!!)
Any old songs evoke memories of days gone by?
Of course, "Joy to the World" (Jeremiah was a bullfrog) reminds me of my crazy freshman year of college. And anything from the Beatles White Album is all about my HS days, junior year. It's funny that I have very few songs that make me melancholy when it comes to my husband. Except maybe our song. Don't laugh. It's "And I love you so", made popular by Perry Como. But it was written by Don McClean of "American Pie" fame. My husband heard the original Don McClean version on the radio, stopped off at the record store and bought the album for me. It was the only time he was ever late for a date. I was a little irked until he came in with the album and played it for me. "And I love you so. The people ask me how, how I lived til now. I tell them, 'I don't know..."
ahhhhhhhhhh, Music.
