Topic: My Peaches Has Passed Away

Additional Comments: Peaches was my almost 22yr old orange tabby. She passed peacefully at home on her special blanket with her sister Tasha lying next to her. I was hoping this was how it would happen I couldnt stand the thought of having her die in a cold vets office. She had gotten really skinny, she had about 1 tooth left and would only eat meat baby food. Saturday she wouldnt eat or drink, her paw pads were really dry as well as her tongue and her gums were pale. By late afternoon she was really weak and could barely stand. I went to bed around midnite told her it was time for he to go and we loved her. Sunday morning she was gone. She was an OLD cat. This was no surprise, but it still hurts alot. Tasha is ok during the day but cries all night. Tasha is also 21-shes still doing well, but Im sure her days are numbered too. Funny thing is Tasha was given 3 mos to live about 8 yrs ago!

Aww Wendy I'm so very sorry.  I know that pain and loss all too well.

I cried so hard and so long when each of my Westie girls passed.  When Angel died last Nov. I cried so hard that my lips swelled up for a week like I'd had collagen implants.  I knew it was time, but it didn't lessen the heartache.

Sending hugs...wish there was something I could say to make it better and brighten your day.

  • Thanks so much Bauer, when a pet has been with you for over 21 yrs its really really hard. I feel worse because Tasha has been crying everynight. They slept together for all those yrs.--Wendy

Wow! That's one cat who wanted to stay with you forever, isn't it?  The longer we have them, the more we love them, that's for sure. I'm so sorry.

My 13 year old mutt's back legs are starting to go.  Six months ago, a hip would slip maybe once a day. Now it happens each time she goes out for a walk. Sometimes when she tries to get up from a slippery floor, her back legs splay out and she can't get up. We have to physically lift a 70 pound dog up and get her legs underneath her so she can go on her merry way.

Dayum. I'm getting old. Mr. Q's getting old and now my dog's getting old, too!

Anyway Wendy, I'm glad your Peaches went so peacefully.  That helps, doesn't it?

Wendy, I'm so sorry ... even though Peaches had a fabulous run, it's so hard to lose them.  I remember and think often of Tasha and wonder how she's doing.  I love the way Peaches went ... natural ... a gift ... so much better than the vet's.  I think also for Tasha ... this way she knows.

Still and all it's hard for you, Keene and the boys.  I'm so sorry.

  • Hi AnnieR! Yes Peaches went the way we wanted her to too. I can only hope the same for Tasha. Tasha still has to get her belly tapped about every 6-8 mos, then she seems good to go. The vet says She's way past her 9 lives.--Wendy
