I remember watching this scene when I was home from school during the summer of 1984. I had not seen it since then.

It's a shame Charita Bauer became ill and died at such a relatively young age by today's standards (I think she was only 62 or 63).

I've listened to some of the old 1950 radio episodes posted on youtube. Before Bert grew older and became the matriarch, she was quite a little busybody in the early years! I never realized Charita Bauer was such a great radio actress before the show made the transition to tv.
