Topic: I love JJ but there is one thing that bugs me that I can't get past

I was really happy when I heard Johnatan Jackson was coming back. I think he is a wonderful actor don't get me wrong. One thing that bugs me is his voice. JJ has an Effeminate way of talking, top that with the fact that his voice doesn't seem to have changed from when he was a kid. I can't take him seriously in this storyline with Liz. On one hand you have NickOWUSS all tattood and muscle bound and on the other we have Lucky not looking much different the when he was when he was a teenager living in a boxcar. It is not hard to see why ElizaBIT(H would be more attrcted to NickOWUSS. When Greg Vaughn was playing lucky he was just as buffed as Tyler C.

I want to see Lucky find out about Nik and Liz and move on with his life and find someone else. Liz and Lucky are a lost cause in my opinion. Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind seeing Lucky and Robin together or maybe Lucky and Maxie. Why not bring back Serena Baldwin and have a love triangle between Ethan, Lucky and Serena

sorry- I hit post before editing because my husband came up behind me and I'd feel uncomfortable if he read this post- lol. Anyway, obviously I meant to say 'he' not her. And I would add, when guys over buff- to me, they lose some of their hotness (tho I don't have anything against a little bit of love handles and I'm sure JJ will fill out more with time:) His voice is a little soft- but it doesn't really bother me, as I don't find it effeminate.) He is a really good actor- and I would pick him over Nick any day. Nick is just being gross right now. eom/bf

Oops, another correction, I meant Jacob Young. I knew Jason didn't sound right but I knew it was a J name (and definitely wasn't Justin.) eom/bf

Is this any different than when anyone new takes over a role? No. Adjust I say. RH looked no more like a "real" women than JJ looks like "real" man until she had her breast implants. RH talks and looks like a little girl. So does Maxie. Why do all the male players have to be ultra masucline? GV was a handsome snooze and if I have to adjust to a man with with less muscle to get better acting, it's a no brainer.

I know what you mean about JJ's voice.  It is soft and high pitched compared to the other men on the show.  It is such a pronounced difference from GV's that a while back another poster asked if Lucky was supposed to be gay.

It bugs me like what you would not beeelieve!!!

You know, I honestly do NOT remember it being this youthful-sounding or effeminate when he was younger, which seems backwards, right???

I get what you're saying, but honestly I'm just happy to have an actor who can act. Maybe it was the role/writers...maybe not, but GV was painfully boring. He was very very nice to look at for sure, but such FF material for me. I think JJ is a good actor. He's always had alot of chemistry with Luke and with Nik and Liz for that matter. I can get over the higher pitched voice when I see that kinda chemistry. GV's Lucky was unrecognizable....he had no relationship and very few if any scenes with his own "father" so it's just nice to see that dynamic again. And besides that...if they're hoping to recreate the magic at some point with Lucky and Liz, then at least she is very petite and youthful looking as well so it works (even though I don't mind the Liz/Nik pairing for now).

I agree--good acting is worth the abrupt change. JJ is making me feel something for Lucky now and I like that. (Didn't dislike Greg but it was bad casting.) Rebecca was 21 when she was playing a high school teen and came on the show, so she actually is older than JJ, but she still looks very young. I'm really happy to have him back! I don't see the effeminency myself, he's just slender, but I've never liked the beefy type and to me Nik is not buff but bloaty. I think Blob when I see him. And the tatoos--yeeesh. A prince would have an entire comic book printed on his shoulder?? I don't think so.... GHFan

This doesn't make sense to me. JJ is Lucky and those other guys were the imposters. Its not like they went a got a guy who never played the part. Those other guys were mabye unbelieveable as Lucky because they were so diffrent from the original Lucky that it was hard to adjust to their harder edge. But this Lucky owns that role and is such a good actor and is so Luke's son and I bet if GF came back, their dynamics would be off the charts. I loved GV, but he really didn't seem like Luke and Laura's son or Lulu's brother. But JJ is definitely playing the role better than any other Lucky because he is the original..

Yes, JJ is the original and back then I could never have seen anyone else in his role. He has, however, been gone for so many years that I got used to seeing GV in the role. Not only that, but it seems to me that he no longer fits the part because he is supposed have changed and matured through the years. JJ looks and sounds the same as he did 10 years ago. Aside from his obvioius chemistry with AG, he seems out of place with every one else on the canvass. On the other hand, maybe with some more time I may have a different take. IMO Taylor

Agree ... I love JJ out of all the Luckys, but he is way too effeminate for the situations they have him in, especially after watching Vaughn in the role for so long.  Seeing he and Bell in a scene, or he and Monaco in a scene, makes you completely forget Lucky's past romances with Maxie and Sam.  His chemistry with Herbst is still there, but it is a very juvenile love, one that harks back to their teenage years.  He looks too young.  He even looks younger than LuLu! 

I'm hoping Jackson's return will bring the Spencers together in a story again and fix the damage that has been done to them over the years.  But JJ just doesn't play adult romantic leading man convincingly.  This is one time I hope the producers don't regret one of their decisions.

I don't know if they will regret it, but I think they should. As talented as JJ is, his physical appearance has not matured with the role of Lucky, especially after having a hunk like GV in the part for so many years. I really think they missed the boat on this one. Even though, the chemistry between JJ and AG is still there, the rest of his relationships on the show don't seem realistic. It would have been better if JJ came back as a new character. eom Taylor
