I don't thnk Claudia has convinced herself that she had nothing to do with Michael's accidental shooting, but she is a consummate liar and it is due to Ms. Brown's talent for playing the beast that when she tells a lie she looks as if she means it. In the more traditional soap acting style, people look guilty before they tell their lie. I guess it's to let the dumber viewers know they're lying. But Susan's Claudia does what good liars do; she lies without a hesitation, a blush, a stammer, a sidelong glance, and she is now hoping that her 'sincerity' will make Sonny believe that she knows that her father had him lined up for the hit that went wrong. She also looked completely sincere when she told 'Daddy' that she testified as she did because she loved him and wanted him to come home. Makes you wonder how much of those sincere feelings of devotion for little brother Johnny are real, doesn't it?
