Subject: Thanks, Sparky. I do agree that a coach's job is tough. I have respect for them for volunteering their time. I do hate to see kids get singled out. IMO, this is a crucial age in baseball. They're learning and that's the most important thing. I don't agree with the coach's that belittle the kids. Kody may have just been mad that he got in trouble and I think he will learn from it. What the coach said to me was not okay. I feel that it was out of line. I'll bet the parents that got lost on their way to the game were pretty pissed when their kids didn't get to play. I'm glad he enjoys sports. I just get a little defensive when Kody isn't enjoying something that he really loves. It shouldn't be that way. At all. Thank you--Sarah

Subject: I don't think I entirely agree. Yes, he should follow instructions and yes, he should ask permission if he can, but if the coach was busy, does it really make sense to just sit there with a bad cramp? I wouldn't. (To bring it into an adult example -- if I was at a mandatory staff meeting and faced that type of problem, I would walk out of the meeting to deal with it, and if my manager asked why I missed the meeting, I'd explain it and fully expect her to be OK with the reason. Fairness is very important and the coach should be willing to explain and discuss things with everyone, including parents. If he can't do that, he shouldn't be coaching children. Maybe Kody was acting up, but the coach should have been willing to discuss it. eom--RK
