Subject: What I don't understand is...if we have no money and we are deeply indebted to other countries, just HOW to we have money to give away? If my personal coffer is empty and I want an ice cream cone...I don't get the ice cream cone. It stays in the neighborhood ice cream store. The government is us. We need the government to be responsible to us and treat our money as we would, fiscally reponsible. (I will add a disclaimer here..as most of us do. there were many who made some very unwise personal choices by getting over their heads and have lost their possessions. I hope they learned their lessons). But we do need to refocus. Some of those people lot their jobs and were unable to pay while others didn't have a job to begin with. We have poverty, we have wealth, we have the median incomes. Americans will help other nations on their own. The government doesn't have to put out a dollar. That is charity. JuMPer

Subject: (lavendar) jumper, i agree that they need to cut spending......but will they? every time they talk about cutting, the group whose entitlement is being cut goes ballistic and they back down. for years we have demanded too many things from the govt. and now the bill is coming due. i don't know what the answer is but i am very afraid we are not going to like it.
