Subject: I don't see it quite that way Auntie Em, and I think that is why it bothers me. Yes, it would be extra work to schedule around everyone's events, but given some cooperation, it could be done,,,, In talking with my daugher, (the one not involved because no one will go to her son's party out of state) she told me that it was my problem because if I approaching it like it was an obligation, it wasn't a gift of my time. That made me realize that I do see it as an obligation - I have supported your family, now its time for you to support mine. It wasn't always easy to get to their events but we made the effort. This is THE FIRST ONE where they had the opportunity to show their support and they let me down. Frankly my kids don't care, like I said, miy daugher in law will have tons of family there from her side, but from our side, nada. I guess my problem is, I expect too much because I am older and have expecations from a different era. I expect people to stop at stops signs, slow down on the yellow light, write thank you notes, etc. I see it all as part of existing in society, we give up some our ourselves, our rights, in this case our time, and we have less accidents and more civility. These days though, it seems to be all about me, my schuedule, my kids, my life. I don't mean to pick on you in particular and I thank you for answering, but I guess I'm just stuck in a time warp from a kinder, gentler time. - Donna E
