Additional Comments:

Ok, Paul wanted to go out to eat so I took him to O'Charley's (which, incidentally, doesn't feed kids free anymore!).

We're eating and Paul out of the blue says, ''Do you know what bi-polar disorder is?'' I'm like, ''yeah, why?'' Then he continued, ''Well I read in 'Newsweek' about this boy who had bipolar disorder and he tried to kill himself by jumping out of his bedroom window.''  Then he asked,''Why would someone do that?'' I explained to him that sometimes people get really really REALLY REALLY sad and that is called depression, and bipolar people also get super happy happy happy and cannot regulate between the two and need medication, and that sometimes when they get SOOO sad, they can't handle it.  Paul said, ''You mean they get so sad that they think the only way to get better is to DIE?'' I said, ''Yes.'' He then said, ''Actually the thing to do is ask someone for help.''

What I don't get is that my 9 year old son is reading Newsweek.

    LMFAO!!!

"I read in Newsweek...."   So he's just sitting around, reading Newsweek whenever he gets a moment alone?  That's hilarious.  That's the kind of kid I can get on board with.... I always kind of dreaded having boys, because I thought all they'd do all day is run around pretending to shoot each other, or talking about sports.  But yours sits around reading Newsweek.  William and Cameron don't like sports, don't care about guns and wars and such, and they prefer math workbooks to actual toys at Christmas.  I love our weird, oddball boys.

  • i know, aren't they wonderful! That's why when John's cousin told me that her son is autistic, I burst out with ''COOL!'' instead of what most people say, ''OH, I'm so sorryyyyy...'' Love my weirdo! eom/pm

Where was Paul last July when Toby jumped through a window?  ;-)

That cracked me up that he was reading Newsweek.  So casual, "I was reading Newsweek".... LOL

  • Yeah, maybe he could have helped Toby. Probably not. He would have been busy in the kids' rooms playing with their stuff. Yeah, I don't get the Newsweek. *I* don't even like reading it! eom/pm

First we need to alert him so he can prepare and now he's reading Newsweek? Color me delighted! You're raising a junior cettie there. Oh please tell me when he develops a liking for classical music!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Already got you on that one! He used to sing Vivaldi (''Spring'') to be exact. Now his favorite is, well, The Fifth Symphony (google ''Beethoven's Wig - it's an AWESOME CD of Classical music set to words!) and then our personal favorite - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. I am sure I butchered the spelling. Anyway, we so make up words to that one, but they are not so polite. Ok. We can be vulgar, it is true. eom/pm

That is one smart boy you have there!!!!!!

I thought of him yesterday. I was in town. We went to a Livestock & Farm Supply store.  I was waiting for Granddad to get his stuff so I was looking around the store.  I saw some Monoply games.  Horse-oply, Mayberry-opoly (Andy Giffith) and some other ones. The first one I saw I thought of Paul.    It was..................

And he is SUPPOSE to have some sort of diagnosis?  I am not sure I believe it!

He sounds just fine to me!  Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders.

    Kids are so funny.

Today, Gann had therapy.  The therapist was at Calico's house.  Da was showing her a book on potty training.  Da has been potty trained for almost a year.  In this book it shows different types of potty chairs, different colors, etc.

She was telling the therapist which potty chairs she liked.  The therapist told her that she didn't need one of those, she was a big girl and used the big potty.

Da closed the book, looked at the therapist and said, ''Well, we not read the potty book anymore, I guess.''  And walked off.

Then they came to TOFH.  I didn't eat lunch till about 2:00 this afternoon.  I fixed me a red enchilada.  It was pretty hot with chili.  Gann crawed up to me and told me BITE! I debated if I should give her a bite or not.  I did give her a small bite, thinking it would be too hot for her and she would go away and not waant anymore.  She ate it and demanded another bite.  After about three bites, she told me HOT.  I gave her a drink and then she wanted more.  She a BUNCH of it!  Had to have a drink often, but loved it!

  • How cute ' we not read potty book anymore' - well i guess she was right! Gann is developing a taste for hot stuff - good for HER! Maybe she'll have her own tv show on the food network where she goes and tastes different hot foods in different countries! I can just see her in my mind. Paul wouldn't touch anything spicy with a 39 1/2 foot pole!!! love, pm
  • I have to disagree with my mama.......... The enchilada wasn't hot. It didn't even tingle. / gabby
  • uh oh, is our strong DENIM a weenie with the hot foods? eom/pm
  • Mine love hot foods, too! All three of them love Mexican food, and Stella practically drinks the salsa. I guess they take after me! eom emmy
