Why is it when you are feeling sick, taking a bath or a shower makes you feel better?

Yesterday a cold hit me and hit me HARD! I was having difficulty concentrating and I was cramping up so much that I was struggling not to double over in pain.

As soon as I got home from work, I went straight to bed and I slept clear through until this morning.  I've been pretty much laying around today not doing much of anything.  I have no stamina.

Finally I took a bath. I am not ready to conquer the world, but I feel a lot better.

I feel that way too.  That week I had the stomach flu, I had to go to the doctor and that meant I had to get up and take a shower.  I was sooo sick that morning, but I had to pull myself up.  I almost fell over taking a shower, but once I was done, blow dryed my hair, put on a little blush and gloss and clean clothes, I felt more refreshed.  After I came home from the doc's office, I was already feeling better.  And the next morning I felt great.

I think when we're sick, we just need a good long nap, and then a nice shower.  When we're feeling refreshed, we feel good.

Hope you feel better, Sparky!!  Sounds like maybe a little soak and some relaxation was in order.   Who knows, maybe soaking clears out all the bad stuff :)

Isn't that the truth Sparky!   What IS it about a good hot bath that soothes us so? I guess for one thing it's so relaxing-but it's funny how it can revive you too.  As you can tell...I love baths, LOL.

Feel better soon

I so miss a soak in a hot bubble bath. We have a marble tub with jets and it was defective-bottom drop out they call it. We have the new tub, sitting in our bathroom uninstalled. And the old non working tub still installed. We just cant afford to have the marble surround torn out and replaced. It priced out at about 10 grand we just dont have right now. We do have 2 other tubs in the house, but those are in the boys bathrooms and I refuse to go in there-LOL. We have a nice double shower, but Im really not a shower person. I need a snazzy hotel weekend just so I can soak!!

I just came down with a cold since yesterday, a hot bath seemed to fix me up pretty well along with a hot cup of tea. I'm almost feeling human again.

It's been a long time since I've actually soaked in a tub.  I usually take showers.

The only thing I can think of, it's invigorating even when you're not sick, i.e. I'm usually not awake until at least two cups of coffee and a shower.

Now, after your bath, immediately get into bed before you get a chill!  Altogether now, "Yes Mother!"

I don't know why they say to rest when you have a cold...I find I'm more stuffed up and scratchy...as soon as I get up and shower, I feel SO much better!  Weird...
