Additional Comments:

some of you will remember he was in the E.R. with acute tonsillitis 2 or 3 weeks ago. 10 days on antibiotics, 1 week of feeling better, then this past tues. evening started with 99.5 fever. took him in on wed. to the doc, did a swab test for flu and strep--both negative. ok, so it's a virus. in bed wed. thur fever broke friday morning.

was out doing errands friday night when my husband called me and told me to get home right away. 103.7 fever and vomiting. i bee-lined it home and poor kid stopped throwing up but was so sick and his ear hurt. called doctor and she told me what to do..give a little time and see. did what she said..lots of liquids and motrin; tylenol..alternate.

this morning he had blood in his ear. that was it. took him back to doc they did another flu test and said he has H1N1 AND A DOUBLE EAR INFECTION ON TOP OF IT ALL!!!

ok---he has dropped from 185 to 165 this month alone. between the fevers and the tonsils and the ear and teh flu the kid isn't hungry, is just so miserable. let alone the fact of all the football he's missed out on. our big rival game is next week and i said you have next year and he about cried. he loves football. i don't care about it at all at this point, it's his school work, which he has kept up with. but he's a little worried about chemistry.

he's mean and snippy and agitated. i told him it was ok. i don't mind it. at least i feel like i'm helping him that way.

so say a little prayer for him. if it was jsut the flu he had to deal with it would have been ok. it's just that he's been sick so long. it's scary.

  • ugh, i'm sniffling and coughing. itchy eyes. i went to the doctor and he gave me an inhaler and a Z-Pack since i've had this off and on for the last 2-3 weeks. he said it's more than likely viral but just in case i have a sinus or bronchial infection the ZPack will take care of that. i am missing my hair appt tomorrow!! what does that tell you??? hahahah--but sonny boy is doing GREAT!--CARM

Mr. Ingy had H1N1 and ended up with a lung infection, so I know how sick your son must be.  Good luck, I hope he's on the mend soon.

  • i can't believe it. i wonder if this H1N1 also causes other illnesses? he was doing well and then BAM 103.4 fever and a ruptured ear drum. he is doing so much better today. i'm so happy to see him eat and hardly coughing.--carm

Poor kid......I know how he feels. I have been sick with something since the 8 TH of October....Been to the doctor 4 times, had 2 rounds of antibiotics and 2 rounds of steroids, a chest X Ray and a CT scan with some dye through my veins, plus a throat swab.....I have no energy and have slept all month.....I didn't mean to make this about myself.....

Something is running rampant around here and I can't understand why medicine doesn't touch it.

I hope your son is improving everyday.....Bless his heart.......MeMe

((((HUGS)))) from a distance!! --carm
  • Thank you sugar.....How is your son coming along? I hope he is in better spirits....I know my son, Blake was sick for almost a month with something....He is still coughing....I just don't know what is going on with whatever this thing is......Love, MeMe

Poor kid...Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate....Give him ice pops if he doesn't want to drink...

Take care of yourself, too, carm...nothing worse than watching your kid be sick...

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Thanks, mum..I need some ice pops too, for my sore throat. Why didn't I think of those? JuMPer
  • i've been fighting this stupid cough for over 2 weeks. nothing big just an annoying tickle in my throat. now i'm paranoid. i have hand sanitizer all over the house, at the bottom of the stairs (hand rails are germy) and as you walk in and out. all the bathrooms too. my hands are almost raw. but it's worth not getting---carm

I am 99.9% sure I have it too. I have NEVER been this sick in my life. I almost went to the ER Thursday night. The best advice I can give is to sleep and drink TONS of liquids. Mandy said this can relapse and that is what happened to me. Just as you think you are doing better it's easy to go out when you really shouldn't. I feel and look like CRAP!!!! I have never slept for 14+ hours straight. I hope he gets better soon. I am sorry... It sucks to be this sick...

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • still?? ah lisa i'm sorry!! but yes sleep!! your body heals itself while you rest. i feel bad waking him to make him drink and take meds. i hope you feel better soon!!--carm
  • I would appreciate it if someone would wake me up for liquids otherwise you get dehydrated. So, you may feel bad, but it's being a good mom :-) I have been sick for 7 days. It's getting OLD :(( Lisa P
  • ah man. how's the fever? i give him motrin and then 2hrs later tylenol. they work well in intervals so you don't have to wait for 1 to wear off and it keeps the fever at bay. i hope you are on the mend very soon--carm
  • Lisa, I hope you feel better soon. ~i&b
