Additional Comments:

It is hitting early this year. My obsession with cottage cheese.  I just started craving it early this year! I eat it all summer with tomatoes. Of course, we don't have any GOOD tomatoes yet, but I got some grape tomatoes and cut them up and mixed them in.  MMMM.. With pepper. Lots of pepper...

MMM love that cottage cheese!!!!

I'm also now on a cucumber kick. I had cucumbers with pepper on them for breakfast.

NO I AM NOT PREGNANT. LOLOLOL!

Hey!  Can you explain to me how you make yours?  I have never really been into CC, but I had a craving for it awhile ago, but didn't know how to eat it!  I dipped Ritz crackers in it and that was pretty good, but I would like to try with other things!  When you say mix it all together, does it come out soupy?  lol I'm a newb...

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • First of all, they have to be good ripe tasty tomatoes. You cut 'em up and kind of put them on top, not really mixing them in like you would if you were mixing a cake, just more or less ''tossing'' I guess. OR.. if you want to be fancy you can cut a big tomato open and scoop out the inside goo (and eat it of course!) and then fill the center with cc. That's the fancy way that fancy people eat it. Myself, I cannot WAIT that long, LOL! eom/pm
  • Thanks, I will definitely give it a try! I really didn't mean to sound dumb, just wanted a clear picture because they are two completely different textures :o) eom Tukey

  • I've had it with paprika on it before. We used to go to a cafeteria in the town I grew up. It was 99% old people and then my parents (who, well, were oldish anyway) and ME. I always got, no matter what ELSE I got, cottage cheese with an olive slice and paprika and then egg custard pie for dessert, LOL! eom/pm

You and Gann would get along just fine!  Well, maybe not.  She would fight you for the cottage cheese!

Her favorite meal?  Cottage cheese, spinach, green beans.  She always has room for cottage cheese.

    I say yuck.

Here was one of my favorite summer lunches, esp when I was dieting.

Cut a canteloupe in half. Scoop out the seeds. Fill the hole of one half with cottage cheese. EAT!

  • My daddy used to do that alot, except substitute ICE CREAM for the cottage cheese, LOLOL! I will have to try that. That would be supremely healthy! Thanks! eom/pm

LOL, I was cringing as I clicked on your topic!

I like cottage cheese too.  I didn't at first but it has become a (relatively) high protein staple of my diet.

What I really didn't think I would like is fat-free cottage cheese but it's not bad at all.  I think I associated it with fat-free milk and I always have to have at least the 1% milk.

I usually eat the cottage cheese with a sliced green apple.  Recently I tried it with dried apricots.  Not bad!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Yummy! I'm going to have to write down all of these good suggestions! I can drink skim milk, in fact I just drank some, and it was fine (which I didn't expect). I really cannot handle the fat free cc though. Ha, we're just the opposite! eom/pm

And here I was afraid to click in for nothing, LOL.

I love cottage cheese. My favorite to add to it: pineapple or peaches-strawberries work too. It's also tasty on a baked potato with pepper.  And cucumbers? ...a staple of my diet :-) (especially mixed with vinegar, dill, salt and pepper and a little olive oil-though I use the spray now for less calories)

  • I did. Oh, last summer? EVERY SINGLE DAY. The Grainger County tomatoes are just delicous! (It's east of here by about an hour, maybe northeast? Well, anyway, they're famous for their tomatoes and even the local Walmarts buy from the Grainger County tomato farmers.). I love those tomatoes. The yellow ones are good too! I cannot WAIT!!! eom/pm

  • Maybe it's because I haven't been able to stand the taste of milk since I was weaned off the bottle!!! I take a lot of calcium though and have forever. eom fuzzwuzz ...and, yeah, I like carrots! LOL

  • Ha, well at least you won't be fighting over it! Chris got me (I had to tell him 900 times what to buy, LOL!) lowfat 1% (I can't do fat free cottage cheese - GAG). It was Food City brand, and was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! So I'm stuck with that brand from now on. I think my tummy is not happy that I have ingested cucumbers all morning though... What do YOU like to eat in the summer? Also, there is nothing like a good watermelon. Before I got diagnosed w/ diabetes, the summer before all I wanted to do was eat watermelon because I was so thirsty. So... I don't eat much watermelon now - too much sugar - but it is SOOO GOOOD and I could eat an entire one by myself. That's my problem, LOL! eom/pm
  • Oh watermelon is a must for me!! YUM!!! especially in the summer! I also love summer local strawberries...omg , so good straight from the farm..MMMmmmmm...add cherries to that too and I'm happy LOL! eom -Nicki
