So. I get tardy sometimes, but, i caught up on the topic ''Choices'' tonight, that is just above a ways.

This link may (or not lol) work.

 http://www.mediadomain.com/cgi-bin/netforum/dool_fan/a.cgi/3-185

There was one question in particular that greatly and deeply caught me off-guard...well, really I mean the ANSWERS that caught me off-guard.

Im talking about the Hypothetical Question: If you could only have one, would you rather have a new outfit, or a massage?

25 folks answered this question.

The results? 16 to 9.

In favor of the Outfit!!!

9 chose the massage, 16 chose he outfit.

Ok, is it because Im a guy and...lets face it...females do tend to get a wee bit more worked-up about new outfits than we guys do. I get that.

And maybe its just because of the amounts of Tension and Anxiety I literally carry around in my body now days, but...COME ON! You DON'T pick some clothes over a massage, right???

Hmmm...

I need to think on this...

I didn't participate but I'd probably go with the new outfit as well.  It's just longer lasting.  But with my back pain of the last week I really want a massage.  I did get a nice pedicure today and sat in a massage chair while I got it!

Well, you didn't say 'assuming they cost the same...'. That's what determined my answer really. A 45 minute massage costs something like $70-$80. But a whole new outfit costs way more than that (for me). So I feel like I can get a massage any time I want. But a new outfit has more of an unattainable, 'wish' quality to it. So that was my reasoning!

I agree with NGP....a massage is over and done, tops an hour.

A nice new outfit I can wear many times before tireing of it.

Also, the way  I shop, for the price of a massage I will be getting probably way more then one outfit.

I was at Goodwill this weekend and got 3 really nice dresses, a beautiful pair of shoes and a necklace for under $30 bucks!

  • You know what, nichol??? - Even though I personally would looove a good massage about now, I totally TOTALLY get where you are coming from with the whole ''Heebie-Jeebie' thing... - chris
  • Darn Board cut me OFF!!! - I was just going to say that maybe i DON'T get ''Heebie-Jeebied'' out by it because I see it in a rather CLINICAL way to be made to feel better, ya know??? - christopher

I didn't get the chance to answer with all that was going on here either.  I would choose clothes over a massage as well.  A stranger isn't touching me and clothes, especially good quality traditional cuts last far longer.  Besides, I am a ''candle-lit bubble bath, a glass of white or brandy in her hand'' girl.  That is worth far more than a quick body rub.  Yuck.

I despise massages!!  A stranger touching me in such a personal way really creeps me out!!!!  They don't relax me in any way shape or form because I'm praying for it to be over the whole time! So, I'd take anything over a massage!!!!  I've had several because we get these twofers and my husband LOVES massages.  So, for him, I suffer through but if I had my druthers, never, ever again!!!!!!

I didn't take the poll either but would have chosen the massage over the outfit.  I wonder from Lisa P's answer if we shouldn't poll those who chose the outfit to see how many of them have ever had a massage before.  I think some might change their minds after having one.

I don't get as excited about clothes as some women, but as someone who doesn't shop that often, getting a nice new outfit can feel really good.

As Lisa said, an outfit lasts. A massage is a very temporary luxury. I also have only gotten a pedicure twice in my life as well -- before my wedding and in my 8th month of pregnancy -- and even pedicures last longer!

Also, I have never gotten a massage from a stranger. That's what my husband is for ... and it doesn't cost a dime! :-)

Well, I didn't play your game right at all and I apologize. I was just being a silly.
I would NEVER pick a massage over a new outfit. First of all, I have never even had a massage and second of all I prefer to spend my money on tangible items. A massage is over and you may feel good, but an outfit you get to keep :-))

  • LOL LP - Thats OK!!! ... I get what you are saying. I have actually only had 2 of them. Once in college when some dumb sororiety girl got a few of us a gift card for one and the second time was when my dearly-departed ex got me to go with her a few years back. The thing is, in both cases I was far too young and stupid to even HAVE any 'Tension' and 'Anxiety' in my body so I didn't really get any benefit from that HA HA!!! - Now, though, Im willing to try anything to get a bit of 'Looseness' in these muscles again lol!!! - chris
  • Oh. P.S. - Just to be clear...I referred to my Ex as ''Dearly-Departed'' ...that makes it sound like shes sleepin with the fishes or something...I just meant shes long since 'Departed' from the marriage - Not Dead LOL!!! - chris
  • Lisa, if you ever have a really good massage you will see that the fuss is about. It can transform the way your body feels. ~i&b
