And NO!  "Three's Company" doesn't count! LOL!   come on knock on our door.....

You know, WKRP was kind of groundbreaking in that the theme song for the opening credits was different than the one for the closing credits (In the first season, only Gary Sandy's Travis and Gordon Jump's Mr. Carlson were credited in the opening. The rest of the cast was credited at the end as "also starring...").

I really loved the Barney Miller theme song.  The electric bass (and soprano sax) of Night Court.  Can't forget Cheers' "where everybody knows your name...."  And I always liked the Cosby Show's theme, performed by different artists from time to time.  I think Bobby McFerrin's version was my fave.  THAT guy is increible!

I digress.  What theme songs do you think are the best?

Gotta be from Love, Sydney - starring Tony Randall:

Love, Sidney Theme Song: Friends Forever
by Carol Connors and Billy Goldenberg

Please believe me,
Lately my whole world is changing.
Suddenly you're here and my life's better than before.
We're friends forever.
Sharing everything together,
always understanding just how much the other cares.

We're friends forever.
You know that's how I feel.
We'll stick together.
Please say we've got a deal.
We're friends forever.
And when the rest have gone,
It's you who will be there for me,
My friend.

"Taxi" had a great theme, kinda wistful. But my all-time favorite was "Dynasty". It sounds like the national anthem for a small European nation, LOL! So self-important sounding.

Look at what’s happened to me,
    I can’t believe it myself.
Suddenly I’m up on top of the world,
    It should’ve been somebody else.

Believe it or not, I’m walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
    Who could it be?
Believe it or not it’s just me.

And lastly 'Welcome Back Kotter' which I was just singing a couple days ago.

    Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

    Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Barney Miller is a good one. My other favorites are Taxi and M*A*S*H*. My parents used to watch those shows so when I hear them, it takes me back to my childhood.

How about theme songs, in general (as I just can't keep the years straight, I'm so dang old!)

    Hawaii 5-0

    Mission:  Impossible

    The Bob Newhart Show

    Newhart

    Mary Tyler Moore

    Andy Griffith Show

    The Addams Family

    Cagney & Lacey

    Rockford Files

    LA Law

    The Love Boat

    The Partridge Family

    The Brady Bunch LOL!

Does anyone remember "Finder of Lost Loves?" (1984) Tony Franciosa and Debra Adair were on it.  Dionne Warwick and Luther Vandross sang the title song (of the same name) that was written by Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager.  I just love that song!
