Jack wrote a poem for his English class and it was really really good.. He is in 9th grade. So I suggested he submit it to a local magazine and they shot back an email that they loved it.
It just came out in the Memorial Day issue!
Here it is
Thoughts of a Soldier
I don't understand
why we are fighting this war
why I was chosen out of many to fight
why friends and countymen die
Most of all
why our enemy fights us
why blood must always stain the earth
where will I go if I fall
will I be punished for my actions
what I do understand
The man beside me is here
My brothers are here
We shall all do our duty
OMG is that deep or what????????????????
Proud mommy moment!~

There are so many words to describe Jack (besides good-lookin', of course). He's brilliant, insightful, thoughtful, and compassionate. And you know what, Lisa? IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!
Congratulations to both of you. That is just frigging AWESOME!

Message: That is some real deep thinking for one so young! I wish he'd never have to have it on his mind. I also wish that it would make the powers to be think about it too!
