Additional Comments:

Mr. News and I got Disc One of the first season of WKRP in Cincinatti from Netflix and watched a few eppies last night.  My abs still hurt from laughing so hard.  I don't know if it was a good thing or bad thing that I watched it.  Good that I LMAO, but bad that now I'm depressed that television will never be that great again.

WKRP debuted in 1978.  What were your favorite shows from that era?

WKRP was a great show.  I dated a guy that looked just like Johnny Fever.  People teased him about it all the time.  I didn't watch a lot of TV in 1978.  However, there were two I wouldn't miss; One Day At A Time and Mork and Mindy

  • Mork and Mindy!!! I remember being so jealous of my beast friend because she had the rainbow suspenders. LOL! --susie

WKRP was a classic filled with great quirkey characters.  I always felt for poor Bailey overshadowed by the gorgeous bombshell Jennifer.

I also enjoyed 3's company with the antics of Jack Tripper ( cant beleive he's gone).

Another show I loved during that time was Welcome Back Kotter.  I guess because I was in High School and it was about HS kids and OMG,  John Travolta was soooo cute!

  • Oh! Welcome Back Kotter was another fave of mine. My brother had a WBK lunchbox (metal, of course). I just watched a ''Truth Behind the Sitcomes'' about that show on the Biography channel. --susie

WKRP was a funny show.  I know it's a matter of opinion and all, but I've never been one to idolize a certain "golden era" of TV.  Since TV began, there have always been good shows and crap shows.  I think some of the shows on now are just as good as any of the shows from the past, The Office, for example, makes me laugh just as hard as any show I've ever seen.  However, there are shows that are no longer on that I really miss....Seinfeld, Cheers, Friends, 6 Feet Under to name a few...

  • I totally get that. I agree to a certain extent that there is always SOMETHING good on TV. It's just too bad political correctness has gotten so out of hand. JMHO. : ) --susie

It is so fun to watch the old favs.   I did watch WKRP but was not a huge fan.

Like some of the others, I loved Threes Company.  Especially with the Ropers & then Don Knotts.  I did not like Terry.  Seems like after that it just didn't work.  I think they even made the characters more stupid.

I am still a fan of The Brady Bunch.  giggle.

  • I think there's a Brady Bunch episode for every situation. LOL! --susie

I never watched that, but from that era, Three's Company was my very fave!!! no other show like it......every episode was so darn funny!! I am trying to buy all the seasons on DVD. The son and hubby N love it too.

  • Three's Company lost its luster for me in the Cindy years. I liked Terri, but they should have ended it LONG before ''Three's A Crowd'' was a blip in someone's imagination. : ) --susie

I watched WKRP a little bit back then, but I was never a huge fan.  I tried watching it again in reruns and still didn't really care for it.  I liked Three's Company and still watch it today.  Don Knotts as Mr. Furley was priceless.

  • The great thing about both shows, IMO, is the complete irreverance! Can't get away with that anymore. --susie

  • LOL!!!! That episode is on this disk. Can't WAIT! I also loved the one in which Johnny Fever told the listeners to dump all their trash on the steps of City Hall and they did. So he freaked out because it finally sunk in that people are LISTENING and he got stage fright. LOL!! --susie
  • My favorite episode has to be the one where Johnny and Venus do the on-air drunk test....*I just saw a giant Pig...!* LMAO (I bought the entire seaon 1 on DVD and just finished watching) Maddy
