Additional Comments:

Our teacher, Marcy Clark, emailed us back with the info we requested. States needed, official rules...

(I feel like I am in the third grade again)! THANKS all for helping out!  I didn't know what the special prize was until I read this.

This is what she sent.

We would love to involve anyone who wants to share postcards with our students.  Have your friends address their cards to Hannah Betts and send them to the school addressed to

Mrs. Clark’s Social Studies Class,

Van Buren Elementary School,

301 S. Main St.

Van Buren, OH 45889.

We prefer picture postcards.  They can be sent from residents of the state or while people are vacationing.  All postcards are recorded and displayed in my classroom.

At the end of the year, Hannah will get to keep any post cards she receives.  The child with the most cards gets a giant candy bar!

We also will accept postcards from other countries and we display those also, but they don’t count in the contest for most postcards in the USA collected.

We still need postcards from Delaware, R.I. ,Washington, and West Virginia.

We currently have about 200 postcards on display.  Thanks for helping out!

Marcy Clark

She said she received one from the edge of California.  I asked San Diego?  She wasn't so positive about that...I asked San Francisco?  a huge Yeah! came out.  misspm, was that you and your group?

Toader, Pittsburg?

Mass, Cecilia?

Sandy, did you get one out from Michigan?

I am not sure on this one if it was Miss. or Missouri....

The three from Texas from Silva and the girls and one from AZ.

So, keep them coming for wherever you travel, or if you have some friends in other places, share with them.

  • I'm sure she's got Hoover Dam (Nevada) by now since I mailed it out last week. eom fuzzwuzz
  • She knew there were more when I talked to her...she couldn't recall off the top of her head. Hover Dam is easy for us to recall, but she is in the third grade from Ohio. Hoover Dam is something she needs to LEARN about. Just called her again and she said she DID get a Hoover Dam. She also got one from Missouri, a real long one with Cities and Animals. JuMPer
  • Bonnie, she is giving you credit for one from San Francisco....and toader..(she said that was a funny name) sorry. JuMPer

  • I wonder if it was D.C.? Don't know. Didn't get a chance to go check, got a cold instead. LisaP. I just got off the phone with Hannah. She had been sick for three days this week and not in school. She said she did get card from you. Did it have a pic of tall buildings and mountains in the back ground? I leet her know that she needs to write down where they have come from for us. She said she would do that on Monday. She is still stuffy from her cold and a bit foggy in her thinking. JuMPer

Seattle is on the way!  I mailed it yesterday, I think.  Should be there by Monday, at any rate.

    Good going!

  • Thanks, Jenny. It will be nice for her to receive another card. She shared my email with her class that Hannah's gma had internet friends who were interested in helping with their class project. The kids were excited about that wondering from where all the cards might come. JuMPer

We mailed another postcard yesterday.  It won't count but they can still enjoy the picture and the cool stamps.  My friend sent it to me from Peru so I put labels over my name and put Hannah's name instead and I put it inside an envelope and mailed it to her class.

  • You are so thoughtful, Silva. That will be a special one for sure. and Hannah will be sure to get it into her postcard scrapbook. It warms my heart that she will have all these cards from people all over this country and the world. I can see her looking over them in the future recalling her third grade class project. And you people all helped. Warms my heart. :-) JuMPer
  • Silva, I shared that you would be sending out another special card that was in an envelop. Hannah said that some of the others received cards from overseas and the teacher did display them. Your Peru card will be a hit, too, I am sure. And thanks again for sharing it with her. JuMPer
