Subject: Agree, and if the actor submits the nomination themselves, then what is the point of nominations?

Subject: People, or the companies they work for, submit their material to these award shows for consideration. Then the Emmy panel views the materials sent in to them and make the nominations from the submissions they receive. This is the case for the Emmys, the Grammys, probably the Oscars too and various other awards shows. You can see entry forms on their respective websites. -coffeemate
